The Tunbridge Wells Foresters Spartak under 10’s Tandridge team travelled to play away at Tulse Hill in the cup on Sunday. The game ended with a defeat for Foresters eventually losing 2-1 in a penalty shoot-out.
Foresters started the game slowly but had the majority of the early possession and the deadlock was broken against the run of play when Tulse Hill took the lead. Foresters continued to press and the got the equaliser when Matthew Horlock turned in a Luke Credland shot. Tulse Hill one again took the lead following a mix up at a corner and although there was plenty of goalmouth action upto the break there were no more goals scored so at half-time the scoreline read 2-1 to the home side.
In the second half the Under 10’s tried to pass the ball around and they continued to create chances but could not find a way through the Tulse Hill defence. Eventually Foresters pressure told and Erik Anderberg fired home from outside the box after being put through by Joseph Pickett. In a tense finale both sides had chances to win the game but at full time the scoreline was 2-2 so the game went into extra time. Foresters took the lead via an own goal scored by Tulse Hill and looked to be holding out for the win when Tulse Hill scored a late equaliser to send the game into penalties. Although Luca Caria saved two penalties in the shootout only Fraser Abbott converted his spot kick so the boys went out 2-1 on penalties.
However, well done to the boys for the all the effort they put into the game and for once again playing some excellent football in difficult underfoot conditions .
The squad for the match was as follows:-
L.Caira, E.Anderberg, J.Phillips, J.Pepper, F.Abbott, M.Horlock, O.Plunkett, J.Pickett ,R.Lawrence and L.Credland.
Finally thank you to everybody who came along to support the boys on a cold south London morning.
