The Tunbridge Wells Foresters under 9’s Tandridge Spartak team played their final league match at home on Sunday. The game ended in a 3-1 defeat for the home side.
Foresters enjoyed the majority of the early possession and took the lead after five minute when Luke Credland set up Joseph Pickett who cut inside his defender and fired in from a tight angle. Foresters continued to push forward but conceded a goal against the run of play midway through the half, in a evenly matched first half Selsdon also struck the post but at half-time the scoreline was 1-1.
In the second half the Under 9’s continued to pass the ball around but they couldn’t find the breakthrough and conceded a penalty which Selsdon duly converted. Foresters continued to press the visitors but could not convert any of their opportunities and Selsdon extended their lead with another breakaway goal. However, Foresters kept going and continued to create chances but they could not bet the goalkeeper who made several good saves to prevent the lead being reduced.
The boys played some good football throughout the match and were unfortunate not to get a result in a evenly contested game against a strong Selsdon side.
The squad for the match was as follows:-
L.Caira, L.Credland, F.Abbott, M.Horlock, O.Plunkett, J.Pickett, J.Williams, J.Phillips and Erik Anderberg.
