The Tunbridge Wells Foresters under 9’s Tandridge Spartak team played at home this weekend against Glebe Tigers. The game ended in a 7-1 victory for the home side.
Foresters started slowly and conceded an early goal. This seemed to kick start the boys and they got into their stride and got back on level terms five minutes later when Matthew Horlock set up Johnny Phillips to score. The boys took the lead two minutes later with Johnny Phillips once again on the scoresheet following some good play from Ollie Plunkett and Fraser Abbott. Foresters were now playing some good football but missed several good opportunities to extend their lead, however midway through the half Joseph Pickett added the third following a Johnny Phillips pass. Joseph Pickett scored the fourth and best goal of the game following a good through ball from Erik Anderberg, so at half-time the scoreline was 4-1 to Foresters.
In the second half the Under 9’s continued in the same vane as the first. Joseph Pickett scored his third goal of the day direct from a cross, and Joseph Pickett also added the sixth goal following a pass from Johnny Phillips. The final goal of the game was an own goal by a Glede defender.
Once again there was solid display from the defence of Luke Credland, Josh Williams, Robert Lawrence and Luca Caria . Josh Williams went upfront for the final minutes in search of that elusive first goal but was denied by the visiting keeper who held his only shot.
The boys one again put in a good performance and played some excellent footbal and are now putting into matches what the learn during their training sessions.
The squad for the match was as follows:-
L.Caira, L.Credland, F.Abbott, M.Horlock, J.Phillips, J.Pickett, ,R.Lawrence, J.Williams, O.Plunkett and E. Anderberg.
