On a cold and clear morning at Bayham the Foresters under 8s Tandridge Blue squad arrived to play against the under 9s of Foresters.
The boys started brightly against their older opponents and a flowing move seemed to settle the boys down and they soon started passing the ball around the pitch and more than matching opponents. Chances came and went for both sides, the Foresters defence was holding strong ablely supported by the midfield trio. The strong u9's team started to find its feet and took the lead with their first meaningful attack with a shot from close range. The U8's continued to play good football and grabbed a deserved equaliser when following a good cross from Erik Anderberg and a goalmouth scramble Joe Pickett slotted home. As half time neared and with the game evenly matched the U9's took the lead with a well taken goal to make the half-time scoreline 2-1 to the U9's.
As the second half got underway the U8's continued to force the pace and created several goal scoring opportunities unfortunately they could not get a equaliser that their efforts deserved, and as the half went on the U9's began to dominate again and Luca Caria made several good saves to keep his team in the game. The U9's scored two goals in the final ten minutes and when the final whistle came the game finished 4-1 to the U9's.
The positives from the games far outweighed the negatives and hopefully the boys will have taken a lot out of playing against a very strong U9's side.
Well done to all the boys from both sides for putting in such a good performance.
The squad for the match was as follows,
Luca Caria, Matt Horlock, Josh Williams, Robert Lawrence, Ollie Plunkett, Erik Anderberg, Joseph Pickett, Johnny Phillips and Luca Nwanosike
