The Tunbridge Wells Foresters under 8’s Tandridge team played away at Coney Hall on Sunday. The game ended in a 8-1 win for Foresters.
Foresters opened the scoring in the first minute when following a good through ball Johnny Phillips shot past the advancing goalkeeper into the roof of net. Following this foresters continued to dominate the play and had the majority of the possession but could not convert any of their chances. However midway through the half Johnny Phillips doubled the lead and a superb long range effort from Luca Nwanosike meant that at half time the scoreline was 3-0 to Foresters.
In the second half the Under 8’s tried to pass the ball around on the compact pitch and they continued to create chances but they could not beat the Coney Hall goalkeeper. Foresters finally made their possession pay with a string of goals, 2 from Joseph Pickett (One a header!), Robert Lawrence (Another long range effort), Erik Anderberg and Fraser Abbott. With the match entering the final minutes and with foresters looking as though they would keep a clean sheet Coney Hall scored a consolation goal that their efforts deserved.
Well done to the boys on a battling result and also for playing some excellent passing football in the second half on a compact pitch.
Also well done to Luca Caira who made some important saves and maintained his concentration levels throughout the game even though he had long periods of inactivity.
The squad for the match was as follows:-
L.Caira, E.Anderberg, J.Phillips, J.Williams, M.Horlock, F.Abbott, J.Pickett, ,R.Lawrence and L.Nwanosike.
