The Tunbridge Wells Foresters under 9’s Spartak Tandridge team played away to Moonshot on Sunday. The game ended in 1-1 draw.
Foresters started the match well playing some good passing football straight from the kick off and Joseph Pickett struck the angle of crossbar and post with a long range effort. Foresters opened the scoring midway through the half when Luke Credland shot from outside the box and a deflection took the ball past the keeper. All the midfielders were playing well and Ollie Plunkett, Matt Horlock, Erik Anderberg and Fraser Abbott gave their opponents no time to settle on the ball and won virtually every challenge. The boys however could not turn the opportunities into goals and went in at half-time only 1-0 up.
In the second half the boys continued to pass the ball around and they continued to create chances but they could not beat the Moonshot goalkeeper who made several good saves. As so often happens Moonshot broke away and scored an equaliser against the run of play. midway through the half The home keeper then made two good saves to deny Johnny Phillips and several shots were blocked by last ditch tackles and outstretched legs. As time ran out Matthew Horlock hit the outside of the post and with almost the final kick off the match Fraser Abbott had a shot which just cleared the bar. There was yet another solid display from both Luca Caria and Josh Williams at the back who both did well to maintain their concentration as the ball was mainly at the other end of the pitch for the majority of the match.
Well done to all the boys on the way they played today, unfortunately the opportunities didn’t go in for them today, but they never gave up trying to find that elusive second goal.
The squad for the match was as follows:-
L.Caira, E.Anderberg, F.Abbott, J.Williams, M.Horlock, O.Plunkett, J.Pickett, J.Phillips and L.Credland.
