Report by Club Secretary Matt Eagles
In the round robin Subsidiary Cup at Jim Evison Fields Mary Dendy had a disastrous first half against Wilmslow Town conceding nine times in the opening forty five minutes . They pulled together in the second half and only conceded a further three times and scored one themselves through Steve Rowlands. Ben Mellor and Danny Cooke both scored first half hat-tricks for Wilmslow and Scott McGowan , not to outdone finished with four . New signing James Whittaker capped his debut with a goal and Stuart Maylett completed the rout. Dendy’s hopes of progressing in the competition have been completely extinguished after conceding 21 goals in their last two cup games but they can now concentrate on consolidating their place in the league where they currently lie in fifth place.

Painfull to watch then painfull to play in. Dendy seem to be at a cross roads now after a good start to the season has been shattered by too deserved but soul destroying defeats by the top two teams. The trouble today was even if they had all their best players to choose i doubt they would have won. Ok th...e score may have been better but i still believe they would have been beaten. The trouble is in my view Dendy have seven good regular players who can compete in this level and today four of them were not there. It was too easy today for a side that ok is too good for the league to score goals. At half time a destroyed Mary Dendy were 9-0 down.
The second half was a bit better and some good football by Dan and Steve gave Dendy the one reason to cheer by getting a goal. Where Dendy goes from here will be up to the players. Hopefully the good players will stay and the wins will come again.
Donkey was myself. I voted for myself for coming on even though deep down i knew it was too risky on my ankle which went straight away in the mud.
Man of the match went to Muttley and Phil ( i know he is my son but i voted for Dan i think him and Steve were the two players today who looked like they could or wanted to compete at that level) The rest tried their best but were just not at the level of Wilmslow which showed in the final score.
Final point is what i have said since i started to watch Dendy they have to decide how much winning means and how much just being part of Dendy means. If winning means more then being involved in Dendy tough times lay ahead for this great bunch of lads.
