AND THERE OFF!!!

LOSTOCK GRALAM 4-2 MARY DENDY

H.T 3-2

MARY DENDY'S preseason games started today with a tough on paper visit to LOSTOCK GRALAM who are trying to rebuild after a couple of tough years. Plenty of new faces in the Dendy team and a few old faces from DENDY in the Lostock team made this an interesting fixture. I must admit i was very worried to see our keeper PERRY on the sideline after an injury to his ankle. To be honest i was guessing 8 or 9 to nothing to Lostock.

The game started and within 2 minutes Dendy shocked Lostock to go one nil up. A great corner was headed in to the goal and both teams looked shocked.
Within 10 mins old Dendy boy Will turned his defender and scored low into the corner and it was one a piece.
Will was again to haunt us after a foul on the outside of the box the free kick was put over the wall and into the bottom corner.
It was Dendy who were to score again next, a great run down the wing from Shaun with a cross to match was headed in by Scott. It was good to see Scott back this season and he provided an outlet upfront. The game remained even with some good defence and passing from the new look Dendy and some useful attacks from Lostock with the ever dangerous Will leading the line.

The Dendy's solid defence being urged on by the excellent Si Lee coped well and with Shaun and Scott giving the Lostock defence problems the game was close.

It was Lostock who broke the dead lock with another turn and shot finding the bottom corner with only 5 mins left of the first half.

Half time 3-2 to Lostock. A half where Dendy did more then hold their own.

The second half both teams made plenty of changes to give players a chance to shine. Both sides worked hard with Lostock still looking sharp attacking but vulnerable at the back. Dendy looking solid all over with some new faces making themselves known with good performances. With about 20 mins to go Dendy had a chance to go three each when the Dendy front player broke and with only the keeper to beat hit his feet and the chance was gone. It was one of those chances i think he was celebrating in his head before he scored.
With Dendy trying to give everyone a game towards the end another free kick was well placed into the top corner 4-2. Ten minutes to go and Lostock pushed hard but never troubled Dendy again and the game finished 4-2 to Lostock.

A much closer game then i expected. Some good performances across the Dendy team. The new faces looked promising and when Perry is back in goal we should be a hard team to beat. Up front we may put too much on to Scotts shoulders but i am sure he is more then up to it.

I have seen it before preseason lots of new faces. Hopefully they will still be around in the middle of winter.

Pub after was the Lostock pub SLOW AND EASY. I enjoyed the sausage onion ring and chips.

It was good to see the old Dendy players in the Lostock team and i wish them luck this season.

Donkey was kyle for kicking the ball into Hammas face before the game had even started.

Man of the match after a second round of votes was Si Lee.

Next game CREWE FC sunday team. Next Sunday at SANDBACH UNITED 11 O'clock kick off. Sunday does not seem as easy to get the players as a saturday.
