Last week Poynton Village won their first game of the season against Alts and this week it was Mary Dendy’s turn after a run of seven straight defeats . Dendy's James Curbishley and Old Alts East's Nick Scholes were both on the scoresheet as Dendy recorded their first league win of the season at Crossford Bridge
It was a deserved victory too and must have encouraged Dendy manager Paul Cronshaw who threatened to ring the changes for their visit to Crossford Bridge. Instead he began with the team that finished so promisingly against Club AZ. It paid off . On twenty two minutes , they scored against the run of play with their first real chance of the game Ryan Fallon broke down the left and fired a delightful ball across the eighteen yard line to find Matty Morris unmarked and he beat keeper Rob Richards with a shot low into the corner. Alts equalised with the last play of the first half , Nick Scholes running in unmarked to the near post to head home John Littlefair’s corner. Two goals in two minutes ten minutes into the second gave Dendy a real boost. Ryan Fallon gave them the lead and then James Curbishley was first to react when his own penalty was saved by Rob Richards and he tucked the ball in from close range to give the visitors a two goal cushion.
Alts tried to come back but without luck and Fallon punished them as he scored a fourth on the break to seal the points and take Dendy off the bottom of the table.
