Match Report by Mary Dendy Club Secretary Matt Eagles
Mary Dendy produced their best performance of the season to beat Old Alts 5-3 and complete the double over the Crossford Bridge club. Danny Vickers showed that he can be a real menace to defenders as he grabbed his first hat trick in Dendy colours with James Curbishley and Ryan Fallon adding a penalty. For Old Alts , Si Sidderley also scored from the penalty spot with Stuart Greenwood and Dave Moore also finding the net.
Match Report by Mary Dendy Assistant Manager David Vickers
OLD ALTS 3 MARY DENDY 5
OLD ALT stay bottom and Mary Dendy's good run continues but they did made hard work of the last 10 minutes. The game started comfortable for Dendy and they were two goals up after only 13 mins. A header down from curbo and Dans first and the side lines were purring about how good Dendy were and how many we were going to win by. A second goal from new goal poacher Dan made ...it 3-0 and all seemed to be easy even all the missed chances didn't seem to matter as it only looked time until we added to it. Dendy being Dendy and sloppy defending from a corner gave OLD ALTS a sniff of a come back and i was worried the team had all ready seen their name on the score sheet and were not being disciplined in defence.
Second half and Dan again showed he was having a good day by making it 4-1 and again we thought it was going to be easy. Dendy made a double sub too replace Shaun and Dan as both had suffered knocks and Dans hat trick was in the bag. All seemed comfortable until Adam was replaced with about 13 mins to go. A break away goal from OLD ALTS made it 4-2 and panic seemed to set in. The panic became worse as Dendy gave away a silly penalty kick for shirt holding, A save by stand in keeper and manager Shep was for nothing as the follow in was scored and suddenly it was 4-3. Thankfully with only minutes to spare Dendy got a penalty of their own when the tricky all game PJ was brought down in the box. Ryan stepped up and i for one had a sigh of relieve as it was converted and the game finished soon after 5-3 to Dendy.
Man of the match was won in a recount by Steve from Dan and PJ.
Cronie was donkey for a few errors that spoiled a good personnel performance.
Lessons today GIVE OUT THE SHIRTS AT KICK OFF TO STARTING 11. Keep subs shirts for when subs are made.
Dendy strength is still going forward so they need to work on the defence side.
Good win though and they are joint third,
Sorry for players who didn't get a game today. It is hard because we all have our own ideas on the best team.
