END OF SEASON CHARITY GAME IN MEMORY OF
JOHN BROWNING 1982-2016 EX DENDY PLAYER
ALL MONEY TO CANCER CHARITIES.
MARY DENDY 2016 3 MARY DENDY LEGENDS 3
H.T 2-3
MARY DENDY WIN CUP 4-2 ON PENS.
Most important was the sad passing of an old Dendy player sadly taken too early. I hope he was watching what was a great game and great day.
My favourite part of the day was seeing old faces and new all mixing in as old friends.
Great start with loud music from Muttleys old band the Matt lads booming out in the dressing rooms and the wall covered with pictures of the past from DENDY est in 1982. Thanks too Hanna and Paul.
The teams were very even as the game was to show with quality on both sides and both looking serious about wanting to win.
The first half was dampened by heavy rain but that wasn't going to stop either team going for it. Legends took the lead with a Wilks free kick going straight in to the top left hand corner from outside the box.
Much to everyones amazement including himself it was Scotty who equaled the score with a goal on the back post from a cross along the floor from Tom Wakefield. A great goal from ten year top goal scorer veteran Matt Morris which left a handful of Dendy defenders on the fall before scoring. This years top goal scorer Tom Wakefield equaled the score before a header for the LEGENDS gave them the lead at the break.
Half time 2-3
Changes at half time i thought would be give advantage to the present Dendy but that was not to be the case with the game staying close. Both teams going for it. It was second half sub Ant who was to equaliser in the last ten mins sending the game to pens.
FULL TIME 3-3
The game went straight to pens with Dendy scoring all four of theirs and LEGENDS missing two.
Winning pen was taken by the fearless Matty Martin.
Food back at the backers the Egerton Arms was sausage bacon steak in spices chips and black pudding. Lovely as usual. Thanks THE EGERTON ARMS.
MAN OF THE MATCH was Dendy goal scoring legend MATTY MORRIS who i thought was looking very well.
Donkey of the Match was Jason Bird. Nice trophy with a girls bottom on it. For missing a chance which to be fair had some pace on it.
Entertainment was Manchester United v Cystal palace in the FA cup final on a big screen. Not the greatest game but United Won which is what matters.
Last but not least was a sit down meal again great food from THE EGERTON before speeches and awards.
