GOALS A PLENTY

OCEAN FC 7 MARY DENDY 6

HALF TIME OCEAN FC 1 MARY DENDY 3

Lovely weather and a decent pitch at reaseheath for Dendy's fourth friendly of the preseason.

Dendy again with no keeper and a different squad to choose from started very sluggish against a keen strong looking Ocean. To be fair if it wasn't for some good stand in keeping and poor finishing from Ocean and they would have been 2-0 up in the first few minutes. For the first 10 mins an Ocean team who surprised me with their quality were all over a Dendy team who looked to struggle to play as a team or get used to each other and the game should have been one sided in the scoreline but thankfully Ocean could not make their advantage count on the score sheet.
A break and good finishing by Scott gave Dendy a 1-0 lead at the 12 mins mark, completely against the run of play. Ocean still looked the better team when a Mata type pass from Adam through to Paul gave him the chance to score which he took and Dendy were 2-0 up. A dubious penalty against Scott for handball was tucked away easily to make it 2-1 after 27 mins. To be fair if you block a shot on the floor you will always be taking a risk. Dendy at last started to look more settled with some good defending from Beef, Ian, Scott and kerbo keeping the dangerous Ocean attack at bay. In the drying minutes of the first half Ocean gave a free kick away and Ted did not disappoint when he scored direct from the kick. The second one of the preseason.

HALF TIME Dendy lead 3-1 against the run of play.

The second half started very much as the first half with Dendy defending against a quick and lively Ocean. But it was Dendy who were to score next when Adam scored his second goal in two games. A well taken goal by the great all rounder Adam.
At 56 mins i felt 4-1 was a harsh scoreline for Ocean and i think Cronie who was the ref must have felt the same when he gave a goal to Ocean which was obvious to the sidelines was offside. This started a night mare end to the game for Dendy. Changes due to injuries and to give people game time again left Dendy looking a lot more open and disjointed as Ocean scored 4 goals in awful ten minutes to turn the game on its head. The game had turned into a very open who will score next game when a pen for Dendy after 72 mins for a push on Scott was put away confidently by captain Ian. At 78 mins it was Ocean who again were awarded a dubious pen by the ref as it was obvious that Hamas got his toe to the ball. Again the pen was put away easily and Dendy found themselves behind again at 6-5. The game started to turn a little into a farce as both teams tried to score. Dendy thought they may have shared the spoils with a fortunate goal going in to make it 6-6 after 83 mins and to be fair a draw would have been a fair scoreline. Sadly it wasn't to finish that way as Ocean took the win with a 85th min goal. Dendy finished looking tired, injured and a little down hearted having thrown away a 4-1 lead.

Final score 7-6 in favour of Ocean.

Another good run out for Dendy. Three defeats out of four seems harsh on a Dendy side who have some good players this season. We really need a goalkeeper and a striker to help Scott. I think we need a number 9 who sits in front of midfield and feeds Scott.

Food was at the FOUR EAGLES pub. First time in and it seemed ok to me. Food was chips, bacon baps, onion rings. I didn't try it so i can't comment on its quality.

Donkey was a pretty solid vote for Ref Cronie for being perhaps a little too one sided for Ocean. When your trying to be fair too both teams you do tend to lean towards the team your not in.

Man of the match was Danny for going in goal and keeping Dendy in it up to the hour mark.
