An astonishing game at Jim Evison Fields saw FC Flyers score thirteen times , miss two penalties and hit the bar but concede four times in a 13-4 victory against Mary Dendy. The win sees them close the gap on Club AZ to five points with three games in hand and having not lost in the league all season you wouldn’t bet against them to win the title come the end of the season.
Flyers win against Dendy showed how ruthless they are in attack but also exposed defensive frailties particularly at set pieces. They had won the game within 16 minutes – First, centre half Adam Wilson headed home a Sean O’Mara corner then O’Mara himself made it 2-0 with a neat finish having been sent clear by Scott McGowan then McGowan himself made it 3-0 on nine minutes . Tom Gill saw his shot swerve viciously in the wind and hit the bar before he put a ball inside to Scott McGowan who made it 4-0 with consummate ease .
To add insult to injury Dendy then conceded a penalty but Danny Cooke’s well struck penalty was turned round the post by keeper Matt Robinson diving to his left.
Cooke made amends as his tap in made it 5-0 before McGowan, Gill and McGowan again made it eight for the home side by half time. But either side of McGowan’s fourth goal Dendy scored twice themselves through Matty Morris and Adam Taylor to make the half time score 8-2!
The second half saw Flyers introduce their new Brazilian signing Marillio Cipriano friends of Manchester United star Anderson and his contribution was telling as within three minutes he made it 9-2 with a thumping drive.

McGowan took responsibility himself and calmy put the ball wide of the post much to keeper Robinsons obvious delight. Further goals from McGowan , who ended the match with five , Danny Cooke , Marillio Cipriano with his second and a stunning goal from substitute Andy Marcombe completed the rout but their was consolation for Dendy as James Curbishley who had had a torrid afternoon marking McGowan scored a fanstastic volley from Mark Bardsley’s corner .
