An astonishing game at Mary Dendy Fields saw the home side , Mary Dendy trailing 2-0 at half time playing not only against their opponents , Old Alts East, but a ferociously strong gusting wind which played havoc with any ball played in the air.

John Littlefair  took advantage of hesitation in the Dendy defence to fire a curling shot past Matt Robinson to make it 1-0 to the visitors after only six minutes and twelve minutes later top scorer Nick Scholes  ran clear down the left wing  and then scored to make it 2-0 with an audacious chip over Robinson as he raced to the edge of his penalty box to avert the danger. Two goals to the good at half time away from home would ordinarily look like a potentially winning position but Alts were far from settled during they half time team talk  feeling they hadn’t done enough to take full advantage of the wind in their favour. They fears were justified .

There followed an astonishing six minutes that saw Dendy score three times , two from Matt Morris and an extraordinary goal from full back Gareth Worrall  whose punt upfield from midway inside his own half somehow found its way past keeper Rob Richards and into the net via a deflection and a huge gust of wind. Midfielder Steve Rowlands   made it 4-2 after turning sharply and sliding the ball under Richards despairing dive  and on sixty six minutes  Morris completed his hat-trick with a trademark finish to make it 5-2.
