Report by secretary Matt Eagles:
Reversal of fortune as Healthy Ardwick lose again with wins for Mary Dendy and High Lane
After failing to gather a single point in their opening two league games Mary Dendy and High Lane appear to have found the winning formula and turned their seasons around . Both teams won away from home to make it three consecutive wins a piece which takes them up to third and fourth respectively in the table . Dendy made life very difficult for themselves at Woodford Rec against Bulls Head Poynton going a man down after only fifteen minutes but they took the lead after Danny Vickers persistence paid off and he scored his first goal of the season . Matt Dent equalised for Bulls Head and they had a great chance to take the lead but Paul Fairweather’s poor penalty was easily saved by stand in Dendy keeper Matt Stott. The visitors grabbed the points late on after great work from James Monaghan who’s shot eventually found its way into the net via the head of Dendy striker Matt Morris.
Report by assistant manager Dave Vickers:
10 MEN DENDY WIN CLOSE GAME 2-1
Another gritty hard working performance by Dendy gave them a 2-1 win over Bulls Head. A game i expected to be close was made even more difficult when Dendy got a RED
card when keeper Matt saw the red mist and kicked a Bulls Head forward and to make his red card worse gave them a penalty. This gave them chance to cancel out a very early goal from Dan Vickers.
The stand in keeper started off with a save after a poor penalty kick and gave Dendy something to hang on too. Bulls Head played some nice passing football and were in no hurry to make the 11 men count feeling the sending off was early in the game they had time to make the extra man count. They got back to 1-1 after a poor pass gave Bulls Head a chance which they took. Bulls Head missed some chances but never pushed enough up front to make the extra man count. A great free kick late in the game which reminded me of the Rooney free kicks where it seemed to miss everyone and go straight in which was debated hard and long in the pub. Did it hit Matt Morris head he said it did which is good enough for me.
Man of the match was Mono for leadership at the back and playing well and with discipline to lead his team to what seemed like an unlikely 3 points after the red card.
Donkey was Matt You can't kick a player and get away with it.
Thoughts of the day. Another tight game, another win, another hard working team performance.
