Inter League Cup First Round.
Matty Morris celebrates scoring Mary Dendy's winner
Mary Dendy ,previous winners of this competition made it safely through to the next round with their first win of the season against Barnton at Moss Farm in Northwich. Facing two of their ex players in the Barnton team Dendy were determined to show they meant business and were two goals up inside half an hour through Matt Morris and Joe Ragdale but shortly before half time Barnton pulled a goal back after a cross from Paul Richardson forced a great save double save from Matt Robinson but in the ensuing melee the ball ricocheted in off the unlucky James Curbishley.
Joe Ragdale lifted the ball over the advancing keeper to make it 3-1 on 64 minutes but with fifteen minutes remaining Mark Southam leapt unmarked at the near post to meet Ben Jepson’s pinpoint cross to make it 3-2 and give Dendy a nervous last few minutes. Despite the pressure Dendy made the game safe with two minutes remaining , Matty Morris grabbing his second of the match side footing the ball home from the edge of the area to make it 4-2.
