THE FIRST HALF
- Started a little flat (none of us had touched a ball during warmup, except for my daughter's mini size football)
- Realized this was good for team unity (what else to do but twiddle thumbs together)
- Game evened out soon with good defending on both sides
- USRC ex-pro broke away down right, slotted home from impossible angle. USRC 1 - 0
- Howard had two shots on goal, the second one clearly much stronger than first, at approximately 4 km/h (slow motion replay for both would have taken 30 minutes)
- Doug brought down on the right, 15 yards into USRC half
- Self-taken free kick floated over penalty spot and nudged in by the keeper. 1 - 1
- Inspired Cedric found space in middle, dribbled past two of defenders for mid range shot
- Keeper backpedalled, tripped over his own feet and ball finds back of the net. Fellas 2 - 1 at half time
THE SECOND HALF
- Tactical change to 4-4-2 to kill off game (USRC defense rubbish)
- Momentum continued with the Fellas at restart
- Good mix of smooth Fellas passing and long balls added pressure
- Cedric's header from corner cracked the woodwork (slightly stronger than Howard's shots, I might add)
- The only nutmeg of the match by yours truly (feels good to be back)
- Solid defending by back four throughout half, Justin/Bear probably had 90% of headers
- Couple of clutch saves by Philip
- Scramble in USRC box, ball rolled to Howard, who finally unleashed something respectable and Fellas up 3 - 1
- Killah maimed USRC keeper about 15 times (all fairly though, no fouls committed)
- Game effectively over after goal
THE WISDOM
- Tactical change effective
- Win starts in the head, sound mental game important
- Bring balls to warmup
- Have ball-less segment in warmup for solidarity
- Running 120% for one half is better than 60% for two halves (good use of substitution)
- This match report is short, concise, chock-full of usefull facts and sage-like wisdom
- I am not match fit yet
