Goodfellas took on Lei Tuen in the M7 League on Monday, March 28th, 2011 at Happy Valley #13 (AT).

Goodfellas 4 - Lei Teun 0
Cedric (Peps)
Cedric (Peps)
Cedric (Thariq)
Koh-San (Cedric)

(HT: 3-0; FT 4-0)

I was given the honor by our deputy in-charge, Mr. Mullens,  to fire-up the team, knowing a victory, would keep us 4th, a couple of points behind the top 3 teams.

Team Line-up (1st Half)

Mullens (GK)

Ketz / Belgium (Defence)

Thariq / Peps / Leo (Midfield)

Cedric (Lone Striker)

Subs: Koh, Howard, Justin, Mark T

We started off well with Leo, Peps and Cedric causing havoc in our opponents half and before you knew, after a scramble in the box, and a miskick by yours truly, Uncle Peps, the ball fell kindly to our Frenchman and he slotted it into the back of the net, 1-0 to the Fellas.

As we continued to pressure, Leo and Cedric had a couple of chances to extend the lead, but to no avail.  Eventually, it's was Peps again, who played a crisp through ball to the Frenchman and he didn't disappoint, with a typical striker's finish, 2-0 and cruising.

Our opponents didn't really create much as they opted for long-balls over the top to their go-to-guy #6, but between Belgium and Ketz, they cleaned up well and Mullens didn't have a shot to save in the game, if I remember clearly.

We continued to pressure and after good play by our defense, Thariq found some space on the wing to cross over an inviting ball and as Lei Teun defence fell apart, it dropped in front of Cedric, for a simple tap-in, 3-0.

Reinforcements came in, Ketz and Leo off, Mark T and Koh on and just before the end of the half, Peps and Cedric off,  Howard and Justin on.

We finished off the 1st half with a comfortable 3-0 lead.  HT: 3-0.

HT Team Talk - "The Oranges were amazing" (Ketz)

Team Line-up (2nd  Half)

Mullens (GK)

Mark T / Belgium (Defence)

Koh / Peps / Thariq (Midfield)

Cedric (Lone Striker)

Subs: Howard, Justin, Leo, Ketz

Goodfellas continued to create a couple of half-chances through ut the 2nd half, Cedric had  several good-headers from corners, Koh should have scored after a mix-up in our opponents box, and a couple of shots, but could not find the 4th goal.

Koh stepped up and after receiving a pass from Cedric, he decided to take matters into his own hands, and weaved his way through the Lei Tuen defense and slotted home a great individual goal.  Well Done Koh-San.  4-0.

Substitutes were brought in - Thariq and Belgium off, Leo and Ketz on and Peps and Ced off, Howard and Justin on.

The subs created several chances for themselves - Koh, weaving his step-overs and eventually crossed , but Howie's 5-in frame could not reach it. The miss of the evening goes to Leo, after holding up possession, he created room and space for himself only to blast the ball high over the bar.

In the end, Goodfellas rolled to a comfortable 4-0 victory and maintained 4th place in M7.  With games in hand - we can easily climb up into the top 3.  Well Done boyz - Hatrick for Cedric and a well-taken individual goal by Koh.  Thanks to Raz and Seb for coming out to watch.

Till the next M7 game.....
