A December Saturday afternoon in Hong Kong, approximately 19 Degrees C: Perfect
weather for some football. After a string of some inconsistent football over
the previous few weeks, the Fellas were ready to come out and play some
organized and structured football full of non-stop attacking action.
Our Opponents: Rev.
Line Up:
Phil (in Goal)
Jason Ikes David Garrow
Henry L Howie Cedric Spencer
Kai Justin
The fellas came out playing excellent football. The string of passes constructed
between the center mids, wings, wing backs and forwards were impeccable.
Within the first 15 minutes, the fellas had there first excellent oppurtunity.
After receiving a penetrating pass (from Howie) through the opposing midfield,
Cresser made an excellent run towards the 18. With him he brought 2 of the
center backs leaving Kaiman Chan completely open. With a beautiful thru ball
from Cresser, Kaiman had a clear shot on goal from the edge of the 18, but shot
just a couple inches over the crossbar.
Play continued throughout the first half with action similar to the above
mentioned oppurtunity with the fellas dominating play in the midfield and on
the wings and in the back. Of note, Philip had an excellent game in goal
completely cutting out all long balls played over the back four which was the
only offensive strategy that the opponents could muster. Also of note was
Spencer who had a good physical game after finally deciding to play like a man.
Halftime. Bear on for Ikes, Jason in Right mid for Henry Leung, Seb on in right
back.
Play continued as before with Cedric and Howie linking up well with Jason Li on
the right and Spencer on the left. Finally Cresser made a run towards the
middle and being the offensive threat that he is, brought with him the 2
central defenders. Howie, with his great footbal awareness, sent an excellent
chip to Seb on the right whom crossed with utmost ease and perfection to be
flicked on by Li with Cedric having a clinical finishing.
The game was far from over however, and if not for the excellent heading and
clearing ability of the back four and the excellent ball catching skills of
Phil, the fellas may have succumbed to pressure piled on by the opponents in an
attempt to even the game. However, the fellas held on and also managed to muster
some great counter attacking plays with Li on the right and Spencer on the left
having going up the flanks non-stop.
With 10 minutes to go, peps came on for Kai and the fellas saw out the game
after having played hard and efficient although being unable to finish for the
most part.
