Goodfellas 4-2 Little Angles (by Edwin Fong)

Sandro (15)

Garrow (20)

Cheung (60) (65)

After losing yesterday, the Goodfellas needed a win of any kind to restore their confidence and they did it in great style by producing a stunning 4 goal display against Little Angles. They made heavy weather of the three points but it was still thoroughly deserved.

The Goodfellas started in sensational style, displaying blistering pace, strength in the tackle and sublime passing skills. The Goodfellas were destroying Little Angles midfield and flying at a frantic defence.

Cheung, in a central role supporting Garrow, was a constant danger and they were ahead in the 15th minute, when Garrow set up Sandro to score the first goal of the game.

Little Angles were handed a lifeline in the 15th minute when they scored from a corner but, this didn’t affect the Goodfellas morale, as they were certainly creating clear enough chances to get themselves back in the game.

Goodfellas went 2-1 up in the 20th minute before half time. The goal was all about three touches. First Garrow brings down a pass from his team mate as gently as he was putting an infant to bed. Second, he knocks the ball through the defender. Third he expertly judges the bounce and fires into the far corner.

Goodfellas continued to push forward in the second half but Little Angles drew level to make it 2-2 in the 45 minute.

With not much time left in the game, the Goodfellas looked like they were heading for a draw but the Goodfellas turned up their tempo and played on Little Angles inability to keep possession.

The pressure looked certain to pay, and so it proved when David Cheung restored the lead with a controversial penalty in the 60th minute, before another goal by Cheung in the 65th minute sealed the victory.

One of the opposition players admitted to being “aggressive towards the referee. He claimed the referee was unable to handle the emotion of the game; his decision-making was “poor, very, very poor” and dissected each and every decision which the official and his colleagues got wrong.

It was no more than a consolation for the visitors, whose poor defending was ultimately to blame for their loss. The Goodfellas exploited their opponents’ weakness and comfortably won the game to take all three points.
