Home league match played on 08 March 2010.
Kicked off at 9:30 AM

Andy Mullen

On an evening at Happy Valley which could be described as very English....meaning on the cold side and raining with that light rain that gets you wet!

The Fellas prepared to take on YST, who had already wrapped up the M7 title without losing a game, by in the most part turning up late (Yes Pete you were on time) and with only eight players available following several late withdrawals...shame on you...you know who you are!

Line-up -

Andy

Dave Koh

Thariq Peps Pete

Cedric

Sub (yes just one) Howard

The Fellas were not put off by the league champions who had not lost all season and only drawn once and suddenly found themselves two goals to the good early in the contest.

First the French Revolution weaved his way into area and fired home before Pete rounded off a flowing team move with a rising shot into the top corner.

But this ended up being a bad idea as it angered YST and after the Fellas rode their luck on several occasions, YST quickly proved why they had breezed to the league title as their tricky number 17 hit back with two solo goals to level the tie at the break.

HALF-TIME Goodfellas 2 YST 2

Following some expertly cut half-time oranges, Howard came on for Dave to create the shortest back line in football history with Koh.

A confident Fellas returned after half-time and regained the lead as Pete added a second of the game with another unstoppable strike.

But annoyingly YST and more specifically their number 17 again scored twice to turn the game on its head and put the league champions 4-3 ahead.

The turning point arrived as Pete's thunderous drive struck the face of the crossbar with the goalkeeper beaten to miss out on his own hat-trick and an equaliser and YST broke and number 17 added a fifth.

The Fellas continued to attack in the closing stages and came close to pulling a goal back following several superb corners from Peps, but slipped to a valiant defeat.

FULL-TIME Goodfellas 3 YST 5

POSITIVES

The Fellas worked as a team for the entire game with good communication and should have at least handed YST just a second draw of the season. We were basically beaten by a better team as the cliché goes but could have easily also nicked a win and really deserved a draw.

Also, Koh getting very annoyed by not getting a corner in the second half. I'm pretty sure that is the most mad he has ever been and long may it continue.

NEGATIVES

Not kicking number 17 more. And, too many people pulled out at the last minute. We have all commitments and things can come up at the last minute but if you sign up, show up.
