Match Report - GoodFellas vs Spartans, April 9, 2011
Happy Valley Pitch #4

The pitch was dry, sunny, great conditions. Many supporters: Lita, Bulldog, Raz, Mullenz' step family and all others…

We have a new striker who joins the team: Tom of Sweden (don't mix with "Tom of Finland": www.eroticarts.com). A double nationality seems to be required to play at this position after our Spanish-Japanese "Goleador" who left us for the US, we have now an new English-Swedish .

The day's opponent was only the League Number 1, a great team skillful and military organized… In the other hand Fellas were in a period of "sucking" results! This game was the perfect occasion for the Fellas to be back on track. Fellas took the option to start with a physical team.

Mullenz
Ikes, Bear, Flo, Garrow
Justin, D-Cheung
Kai, Howard, Belgium
Tom

First half:
Some good movements from Kai and Tom make the Spartans a little less confident… But the Spartans were athletic, organized with skillful players… Our Middlefield were keeping some possession and tried to create nice moves. However they had a little more ball possession than us. Our defense had some hard time to keep under control their 2 strikers. Hopefully "MVP" Mullenz was back and took great care of our goalies, with couple of reflex and anticipation… Spartans pushed… Unlikely our layer/tackler/right defender got a head shock and had to be substituted… Nate entered in the battlefield.

Most of our attacks started from our vigorous Middlefield to our right flank, some good moves, but we were not able to score. Spartans got some corner kicks and all brought dangerous situation but Mullenz or Belgium were well positioned on the line to stop the ball. However 5 minutes before the break, their "63" striker shot and cold-blood score from 20 meters our defense was beaten!

Short talk during the half time… yes they are No1, better team than us on the paper, but we are the Fellas and we have a team spirit and capacities to change the game. Some changes were done (Justin has to leave even if we were ready to offer 500 bocks/hour) to strengthen even further our defense and Middlefield.

Second half:

Mullenz
Shui, Bear, Flo, Garrow
Mark, D-Cheung
Leo, Howard, Nate
Tom

Strong and physical battle on the Middlefield (D-Cheung-Mark), both parts play alternatively, short and long pass in order to find solution. Our defence was strong with headers and if one defender was passed we had a good cover from the others. We had couple of opportunities from Free and corner kicks but none of them were successful.
Spartans continued to be dangerous with their tall players or corners but all balls went out or blocked. Mullenz was strong and well positioned.
Leo Capone ("il Tuffatore") had a great opportunity from good pass of Tom (?), nice run face to face with the goalie, passed him but got "touched" from the Spartan…Unlikely we did not record the scene because our Chinese-Italian-Pilot-Striker did a "double front flip, noise grab"… PENALTY.
Penalty, was shot lightly over the frame, the sun, the race course "Live"… we sucked!

Fellas had still 15 minutes to score, we pushed, they pushed and on a corner kick we could have potentially a solution from a kick from Flo but the ball was stop on their line… Garrow, Leo, Tom tried to bring danger from both sides but we did not find solutions.

We sucked but somehow we were happy to find back our Mojo!

Let me just say: Spartans are better players than us individually and collectively… however, working hard we can all reach their level… But we have a unique advantage: we have a superb team spirit! And this cannot be trained…
