St: Hans

DF: Jase, Bear, Daryl, Doug
GK: Philip

Before I get into the game a quick message for Koh who picked up a serious injury towards the end of the game. Hope you get better soon buddy and join us on the field again terrorizing defenses.

The game was a scrappy affair to say the least and the pitch didn’t help matters at all. The two strangers that accompanied me to the game ( I honestly think they were still drunk from Wan Chai the night before) had thought we had landed in Stanley beach there was that much sand in the pitch!!

Any ways getting on with the game, both teams started the game brightly with Pete and Hans linking up well on the right, our defense coping well with any pressure and the midfield trying to have a say in the game without choking on sand being kicked in our faces.

This game had the classical “underestimate the opponent” factor all over it and to a certain extent this is what occurred during the first half with Legal Head growing in confidence and putting us on the back foot. But our rock solid defense held it tight and allowed no sniff on goal.

The chances were few and far between with Hans and Pete linking up well on the right before Hans hit the post with a ferocious right foot attempt.

Our goal was very well taken by Pete. Great link up play between himself and Hans on the right allowed Pete through who convincingly slotted past the advancing keeper. 1-0 fellas, with our fans going crazy on the sideline (with a bottle of Jameson in hand no doubt)

Instead of Goodfellas taking the innovative a finishing off our opponents we took our foot of the gas so to speak and allowed them a few chances to equalize before the break!!

At half time we were glad to be still 1-0 to the good, with myself feeling the effects of the night before.

Second Half.

The second half was a blur to tell the truth. Within 10 minutes of the second half kicking off I was replaced(and quite rightly so) with Peps taking my place.

Both team had chances to score but both defenses held tight but it must be said the pitch was always going to hinder any free flowing movement that Goodfellas had been renowned for in previous games.

The second half was cruelly interrupted by the shocking injury to our star winger Koh even though the referee had seen nothing wrong with the challenge!!??!!MUPPET

With Koh bravely standing to his feet and moving to the sideline the game continued. The injury to Koh seemed to affect a few of our players as we were on the back foot for the remaining of the second half with Goodfellas and Philip lucky to keep a  clean sheet.

All in all it was a scrappy affair with a bit of brilliance on Pete’s behalf securing the win for Goodfellas and maintaining our charge for the title.

Fellas hoorah!!
