Vale, of the Abberley variety, travelled to Old Swinford for a league fixture with high hopes. There was uncertainty around the fixture from the outset as the referee had failed to arrive and the hunt was on for a replacement. The issue was resolved within 15 mins and the game was on!
Vale seem to be caught in the trap of playing at the same level of the opposition of late, this can be good when playing the top sides, however when playing the lesser sides in the league it can lead to a tense and frustrating game. Old Swinford brought the latter out of Vale much to the frustration of Big Boss Bingo Briggs who in the after match interview was reported to have said;
‘they are all a bunch of useless c*nts, if any of them apart from tude think their position is safe they are much mistaken! Especially the so called captain will silk, he needs to pull his finger out of his f**king arse!!!’
The game began with both teams scrapping, struggling to find some rhythm, however it was vale who gained the early advantage as some good work from new signing Craig Pratt down the right hand side saw his cross put away by dirky.
The first half was providing yet more scrappy football with only glimpses of the past form shown by a mid table Vale. Tude was called into action on two occasions with one being an important save helping to keep the one goal advantage going into half time.
The second half saw Old Swinford just edge out Vale in the possession department which also led to some opportunities only for the Cross strikers to miss the target chance after chance, one of which was an open goal from 2 yards out!! The final 10 minutes was played out like an FA cup tie as Vale had the full 11 behind the ball and Old swinford swamped forward. Vale managed to hold out and were celebrating a hard fought (possibly undeserved) victory. There are obviously many aspects of their game that Vale need to work on but there were also some positives from the victory, Dirky continues to improve and lives up to his knick name with constant energy battling in all areas of the pitch, Gaylo is looking more at home in defence every game and will give Bingo some headaches when all are fit and available! And finally the signing of Craig Pratt seems to have strengthened what is already a strong area on the pitch.
Memorable moments from the game?
Guy constantly trying to kiss anyone near him !!
Simmo making girly scream noises because the referee gave a free kick against him for a horrific foul on the keeper!
Az and Silk miss communication leading to clash of heads, they have now lost the one brain cell they shared...probably won’t affect their footballing skills ...or lack there of...
