Johnson Paint Trophy QF 1: In an error-strewn game of wayward finishing and odd decisions, Patterson's Bristol City trumped Peter's York City 2-0. The game was fairly open from the start, and once both teams had found their rhythm it was City who drew first blood whenDuke latched on to Dan's low pass and rounded Pete in goal before finishing from a tight angle. York City actually had the better chances before half time with Fletch missing an open goal (after playing a one-two with Patto's ball sack), Rowan seeing a deflected shot shave the post and Neil heading against the upright.
In the second half Bristol City had numerous chances to finish off the game as Phil and Duke held up the ball well and Kieran, Dan and Chibbert offered lots of options, but Pete was on good form to save multiple one-on-ones with his legs and also pull off an amazing reaction save from Patto's left-footed shot. At the other end Tooby took one for the team (in his plums) as he continued to maintain City's clean sheet and see off Fletch and Sicky's advances, before coming out to score City's second when Duke backheeled into his path 2 yards out for a deserved finish.
I know he also won it last week, but my MOM for York City has to be Allaway, as he kept his team within sight of the opposition until the final minutes. Despite his defence falling apart in front of his eyes, he made some great saves.
