MEFF #7 – THE WIZARD’S SLEEVES 6 – 3 REBEL ALLIANCE 2.0:
Despite the sweltering heat and a number of people with Glastonbury-induced hangovers and/or sun stroke, 13 brave souls produced a competitive and close game for 50 minutes until Griffiths rolled out his ‘counter-attacking goal show’ to give SuBo’s Wizard’s Sleeves their fourth straight win against Rowan’s Rebel Alliance 2.0.
0-1: Swithers (showed quick reactions to slide home Crozier’s pull-back)
1-1: SuBo (clipped home a low shot after Brett’s weighted through-ball)
2-1: Pete (knocked a low shot in off the post after good work from Brett)
3-1: Patto (smashed a close-range shot inside Rowan’s near post after a one-two with Pete)
4-1: Pete (long range screamer that sent Rowan the wrong way after good build-up from Spence and the team)
4-2: Fletch (picked up Crozier’s pass and slotted the ball away)
4-3: Swithers (another predatory goal after Crozier’s incisive pass)
5-3: Griffiths (tucked away a low chance after a good pass from SuBo)
6-3: Griffiths (another close-range finish from Spencer’s pass)
Men of the Match were Kieran for another display of energy and good ball usage, and Brett, for his top notch sportsmanship after realising that “it’s f’n stupid to have uneven teams” and sat out to even them up. Opposing Captain Rowan described this as “a modern day act of Paulo Di Canio”.
