Johnson Paint Trophy Semi-Final 2: An action-packed, 9 goal thriller ended with the absent Fletcher's Wolves (Captained by Ashley) taking the remaining place at Wembley at the expense of Luke's Peterborough.
Rowan opened the scoring for the Wanderers when Ash played him in to acres of space, leaving Brett totally exposed, but the Posh fought straight back with Crozier feeding Griffin for a composed equaliser. Rowan then fed Patto for a low swivelled finish, and Gandy added a third after praying on Dan's rebounded shot, leaving Wolves firmly in control at half time.
The game (as always) opened up in the second half and after Luke had pulled one back for Peterborough, the space opened up even further when both sides lost a player: Pete crawling off after a crashing shin-on-shin challenge with Sicky, and Toobs for calf-knack. Crozier equalised after a quick counter-attack and one-two with Mick, and suddenly Peterborough took the lead when McLardy struck a slick debut MEFF goal from the left wing. With Fletch's inspirational words pumping in their hearts, Wolves raised their game and SuBo made some great low saves before Patto thumped home a header from Rowan's throw to level the scores, and then a great solo run from Deano ended with his cross deflecting in off Griffiths for an own goal and the winning goal.
