Johnson Paint Trophy Semi-Final 1: Patto's Bristol City booked their place in the JPT Final with a 3-1 win over Phil's Morecambe. After a late kick-off (and a 5 minute friendly where Griffiths and Joe scored) the proper competition began... Despite City seeing a lot of play, it was Morecambe who drew first blood after a long spell of corners when Phil found himself clear on goal, and his square shot/pass fell to Rowan who finished well across SuBo. Bristol equalised straight back when Sicky's fierce low shot was stabbed home by Duke from a yard, giving Toobs little chance. After that the game was pretty even, with Joe's unorthodox approach to defending working well for City, while Toobs and Deano continued to frustrate Duke and Neil in the City attack.
The second half saw City dominate possession, and a great passing move between SuBo and Pete ended with Patto crossing to Sicky Sam, who finally finished off the move after his volley/header had rebounded off Brett's hand, the post, and Brett's side. Morecambe pushed for an equaliser but SuBo made three impressive leg-saves from Rowan, Croz and Deano one-on-ones to maintain the lead, while Pete and Duke both smashed the woodwork at the other end. Eventually Sicky's exquisite through-ball allowed Duke to easily square the ball for Patto, who passed into the empty net to seal the win.
