Johnson Paint Trophy Final: Bristol City bathed in the warm glow of Johnson Paint glory as Patterson masterminded/fluked (depending on your viewpoint) a 3-2 win over Fletcher's Wolves. After a short Deano-assisted delay, the game kicked off and Wolves eventually opened the scoring when a nice run by Luke ended with the loose ball falling to Phil(?) who tucked it beyond Pete. City responded with two quick Deano goals as Chibbert and Crozier both found their man for neat finishes (with Pete trying to nick the first on the line!) Just before half time Peter did score a legitimate goal as City found plenty of space on the wings and went two goals ahead.
The second half was almost all Wolves, and had it not been for some heroic defending by Chibbert, some hesitant shooting, and some exceptional reaction saves from Crozier then the game would've been theirs. Fletch and Spence were both denied by Croz when it looked easier to score, Ash and Luke had shots blocked on the line by Deano and Griffin, and Fletch and Griffiths both glanced headers wide. At the other end SuBo had little to do except watch the odd errant shot fly over as City tried to hit on the break through Pete, Mick and Patto. Wolves did manage to finally puncture the resilient City defence with 3 minutes to go as Griffiths stabbed home, but in the end City held out for their precious win.
