MEFF #16 – THE GREATEST AND BEST 5-A-SIDE TEAM IN THE WORLD... TRIBUTE 2 – 3 SZCZESNY HAWKES:

A fiery MEFF encounter saw Aidan’s challenging team, Szczesny Hawkes, weather an early storm (literally and metaphorically) before taking a strong lead that a tired The Greatest and Best 5-a-Side Team in the World... Tribute could not beat despite their best efforts.

Unusually (for recent MEFFs) both teams had dedicated goalkeepers, with Daddy Steels and the injured Sicky Sicky Sicky Sam Sam donning the gloves, and this was reflected in the scoreline as both sides saw numerous chances saved or blocked. Nevertheless, both teams were still guilty of missing golden opportunities with a number of posts and bars being hit, while the wind caused further issues!

0-1: Griffiths(Neil ran into the area down the right and sent a low, hard shot towards the back post which was tapped in by Griffiths)

0-2: Phil(Fletch was allowed to run through the Tribute defence, and although his run was eventually halted, the ball fell to Phil who put away a smart curling finish from a tight angle on the left)

Half Time

0-3: Luke (Crozier was muscled off the ball by Luke while trying to take down Brett’s throw, and Luke rounded the diving Paul before slotting into the empty net)

1-3: Crozier(a quick one-two with SuBo allowed Crozier to finish neatly under Sicky from the right)

2-3: Patto(Patto‘s straight, airborne pass towards goal from halfway was dummied/missed by Brett, and the ball simply nestled in the bottom right corner of the goal beside the motionless Sicky)

Men of the Match (chosen by the Captains) were Crozier who “looked busy and scored a good goal” and Sicky, who “made some good saves, clearances n used ball well at back!”
