THE TEAM WITH NO NICKNAME UNITED 2 - 1 PIPPA MIDDLETON’S ASS RANGERS:

A last gasp winner from Captain Sicky gave The Team With No Nickname a hard-fought win against reigning champions Pippa Middleton’s Ass Rangers. Although United, aided by the strong wind, dominated possession and chances in the first half, they simply could not open the scoring as a Steels was in particularly fine form, while Rowan aka ‘The Milk Tray Man’ (making his debut in goal) mopped up everything at the other end. Sicky, SuBo, Adam and Spence all saw strikes blocked or diverted by some committed defending, while Patto and Swithers both headed chances narrowly wide.

With the usual space opening up in the second half, chances were more frequent for both sides as formations became stretched. Paul continued his excellent performance by blocking shots and one-on-ones from SuBo, Patto and Sicky, while constant running from Kieran and Crozier in midfield allowed both teams to counter-attack at pace, aided by Griffin and Griffiths respectively. Nevertheless, United continued to make the best chances and SuBo flicked Patto’s cross over Paul, only to hit the bar, while Sicky smashed a shot off the post. The breakthrough finally came when Spence fed a simple ball into the box, and Sicky smashed a low shot beyond Paul. The goal woke up the chasing Ass Rangers, and suddenly Rowan was called upon the make several smart saves, while Brett headed onto the post and Spence blocked Adam’s cross to Brett with a sensational ‘El Ballo’ slide technique. However, United could not contain the persistent pressure, and some hesitant defending allowed Fletch equalised with a hard, low shot that gave Rowan no chance. In the dying minutes both teams went for the win, with Adam firing several shots wide and Griffin, Patto and SuBo combining well but failing to beat Paul, before a quick short corner with Patto gave Sicky the time to shoot through a crowd of legs and score a cheeky winner!

The Captains gave the Men of the Match Award to Crozier and Spence, who both showed good running and commitment throughout the game, although once again it was a really competitive game with both teams capable of snatching victory.
