Home tournament match played on 30 January 2012.
Kicked off at 7:00 PM

A high-calibre match saw Crozier’s EuroDizzy take on Rowan’s The Walls of Jericho, who were sporting several new faces as injuries took their toll on the normal MEFF crew. Jericho’s ability to retain the ball and build attacks using Barcelona’s proven ‘tika tika’ approach made the difference as EuroDizzy were made to chase shadows and work hard for minimal possession, and were subsequently limited to a handful of chances in the final third.

Fletch and Luke worked hard to retain possession up front for Jericho while Adam, Ash, Porty and Jack spread the ball around the middle confidently, constantly moving and forcing Rowan to be a virtual spectator in the first half as they took a commanding lead. EuroDizzy rose to the challenge in the second half with Kieran and Griffin playing off Spence in attack on the break, while Crozier, Phil G and Phil P made some crucial challenges, but it still took a number of dragged shots and great low saves from Frumpy to keep them in the game, although Rowan also had to make several strong blocks (and one notable save with the tip of his manhood).

1-0: Jack(after a fluid period of passing, Luke held up the ball and fed Jack, who hit a low shot into the bottom right corner)

2-0: Jack(Jack pounced on a poor defensive pass to run free and finish beyond the exposed Frumpy)

3-0: Ash(more strong play from Luke saw him to hold up the ball and tee-up Ash, who smashed a low shot into the far corner)

Second Half:

4-0: Luke(after a strong run down the right, Ash clipped a weighted ball over the top to Luke in the corner, who lobbed the advancing Frumpy and watched as Phil G could only clear the goalbound shot into the roof of the netting)

5-0: Luke(Ash’s 15 yard screamer was blocked by Frumpy, but the ball fell kindly to Luke who had a simple tap-in on the line)

5-1: Kieran(Spence flicked on a long ball from defence, and Kieran wriggled free to find the net with a deflected shot beyond Rowan)

Men of the Match were Luke (for the second week running) as he held up the ball well and “all Jericho attacks appeared to go through him” (the highlight being his twisty box play that was so dizzying it made Spence faint), and Frumpy, “for some excellent saves”.
