LMB were looking to build upon their quick starts from the previous two games, however, they found themselves 1-0 down within the first few minutes when some lacklustre defending allowed a simple one-two to unlock the defence resulting in a simple finish for the opposition. The game then settled down and was turning into a tight affair. LMB gained their feet and equalised when a well worked move saw Sam Stewart find Hulk off the back of the boards who tucked the ball away into the corner. A young, organised Beast FC found themselves under the cosh as LMB upped the pressure. Pedro saw two fine efforts come back off the post. Then, just before the half, Man of the match Pedro (winning the £3 left over change from subs prize - all should note this is now a reward for MoM unless the funds go somewhere else that we are not aware of (Patto) - what more incentive can you need??) put LMB 2-1 up with a fine individual goal, which saw him take on the Beast defence and tuck away the ball with the outside of his right foot past the onrushing keeper into the far corner.
The second half saw LMB dominate for the first 15 mins, but just couldn’t seem to find the back of the net. LMB had several chances but it just wasn’t their night. Then against the run of play a long range shot was spilt by Griff and slowly rolled to the edge of the area, where Kieran was beaten by a Beast player allowing him to poke the ball home. If the ball was actually out of the area was at the referees discretion, but it was very close. LMB replied well and thought they had regained the lead when Kieran poked the ball under the keeper, however, the referee disallowed the goal as he felt the ball had entered the area, it seemed that the ball actually hadn’t and was in the exact same position as Beast FC’s goal was. "Seems to be a hot topic for modern day football, inconsistent refereeing!" SuBo 2010
A defensive lapse from SuBo then allowed there token Ginger to flick the ball up and volley into the net from an excellent through-ball (he’d never be able to do this again in 100 attempts), from then on and with LMB chasing the play Beast FC scored 2 more (1 by their jogging bottomed-clad player) in the final 5 when some poor decision-making was accepted gratefully by the opposition while LMB were looking for the illusive equaliser.
Highlight of the game coming from Mr Robert Crozier when in the final 10 minutes with no-one within 10 yards of him he just fell comically to the floor causing Pete to stop playing as he was laughing too hard.
A special mention to Griff also for going through a red light on the way home (luckily the car coming across the road noticed and stopped). The Chav mobile on questioning the driver at the next set of lights (he actually stopped at these) only got a response of " I thought it turned to Green" a comment backed up by Sicky Sam but no-one quite believed them!
