BBOB started the stronger team with Dan Buchanan and Jac attacking down our left. In the 4th minute Jac crossed the ball into the middle towards Dan, he lobbed the keeper and the ball was touched home by Matt Barton, Unfortunately the lead didn’t last long, a long ball up field beat our defence, Diversity crossed the ball from their right into the middle to a player on the edge of our penalty area, his shot left Mike, in goal, stranded and made it 1-1. Diversity were now in control of the game and BBOB found it difficult to brake out from our defence on the Diversity left. When we did clear the ball we broke down our left and we won a free kick, Dan Buchanan took the free kick which was cleared for a throw-in by Diversity, the ball from the throw-in was played into the middle, Matt headed the ball which was cleared off the line by Diversity. Another long ball clearance up field resulted in their second goal in the 16th minute, it was played over Dan Edwards, their player ran towards goal and lobbed the ball over the advancing Mike, 2-1. BBOB were denied a chance to equalise when a goal bound shot was hand-balled on the line by a Diversity player who was subsequently sent off for the offence. Jac took the penalty, which was not one of his best, he hit the ball low to the goalies right who dived low and saved it. Diversity continued to pressurise the BBOB defence, particularly down on their left side, eventually BBOB managed to get out of their half and into Diversity’s and maintain some pressure on them, mainly through the middle of the park. Jac took a quick throw-in on our left to Dan Buchanan who turned inside and ran at their defence through the middle, he was brought down just outside the penalty area, Dan took the free kick which was cleared up field by Diversity, Paul calmly claimed the ball just inside our half and passed it back to Mike. Diversity contested nearly every decision against them and tested the patience of the referee. They fouled Ben on our right half way inside their half, Dan Buchanan took the free kick which was played into H, his header was cleared off the line but only as far as Jac who passed to Adam, his shot went well wide of the goal. Shortly afterwards Dan Edwards took a throw-in on our right to H his shot was cleared to Paul who passed to Adam just outside the Diversity penalty area, he played it back to Dan Edwards to H to Dan Buchanan whose shot on goal rolled to Matt, who also shot on goal, but again it was cleared by the Diversity defence. This was a period of sustained pressure from BBOB, H lobbed the goalie but it just went over the cross bar. Another shot on goal was parried away by the goalie to Jac on the left who played it into Dan Edwards, he passed the ball to Seb in the middle who passed it to H, his shot went just wide of the right-hand post. 2-1 to Diversity at half time. Four minutes into the second half H played a ball into the middle for Matt to head the ball home and make it 2-2. Joe Howard was getting forward as much as he could down our left, one run resulted in him passing the ball down the wing to Seb, he crossed the ball into H but again their goalie collected the ball and cleared it up field. Diversity won a corner on their left-hand side their shot on goal from the corner was parried away by Mike and cleared up field by Joe Howard. In the 61st BBOB won a free kick on our right just inside the Diversity half, the kick was taken by Dan Buchanan and played into the Diversity goal area where Jac headed the ball home to make it 2-3 and BBOB were back in the lead. Four minutes later Joe Marshall came on for Ben. Diversity won a free kick in the centre of the pitch, just outside our penalty area, but wasted the chance to equalise by hitting the ball over the cross bar. In the 74th minute a corner on our right was played short on the ground to Jac who played the ball back to Dan Buchanan, Diversity managed to clear the ball out to their left and played it into their player running through the middle, he eluded our defence and struct the ball at Mike who cleared it out to Joe Howard who made another of his overlapping runs. With the game seemingly won Diversity broke down their right hand side in the 90th minute, Adam couldn’t deal with the attack, Mike came out of his goal to narrow the angle, their attacker hit the ball to Mike’s right, the ball hit the post, rebounded across the goal to a Diversity player who had the simple task of just tapping the ball home. BBOB looked for the winner in stoppage time but it wasn’t to be and the game finished 3-3.
