BBOB started slowly and were 0-1 down after 4 minutes when Adam failed to deal with a long ball played by The Lectern. Soon after Joe Marshall made a break down the BBOB right and crossed the ball into the middle, Dan Buchanan got a head to it but it went out for a goal kick. Shortly after BBOB were awarded a free kick on our right half way inside The Lectern half, it was taken by Joe Marshall but nothing came of the chance. Most of the early attacks by The Lectern were down their left, forcing several throw-ins, but H dealt with these effectively with his head. In the 14th minute another Lectern attack resulted in the ball being fired over the crossbar and a minute later they shot just wide of the goal. Jac and Ben were combining well down our left wing, Ben had a shot on goal which was saved by the Lectern keeper. Shortly after Ben and Joe Marshall combined well down our right but nothing came of the opportunity. Joe Howard was found by a through ball from H, Joe shot from just outside The Lectern penalty area and out for a corner. Dan Buchanan took the corner on our left, Joe Marshall headed towards goal and their keeper made a fine save on the line. Ben was having his best game yet for BBOB down the right, dribbling past several players. In the 34th minute he beat three players, turned inside, had a shot on goal which was parried away by The Lectern keeper. Dan Buchanan took the corner which was headed away for another corner on our right. Joe Marshall took this corner and played it into Dan Buchanan, his shot was put out for yet another corner. This time Ben took the corner on our right, played it low to the near post, the shot on goal went over the crossbar. Just before half time Ben dribbled the ball past several players, crossed it into the middle where Joe Marshal just headed over the crossbar. Shortly after the re-start The Lectern attacked down their left, they played the ball into our area which was put out by veteran Steve Maskell for a corner. But BBOB had started the second half better with Dan Buchannan attacking down our left, linking well with H and Jac. A shot on goal was deflected back out to Ben, he played the ball back in to Dan Buchanan who scored from close range only for it to be ruled offside by the assistant referee. Two minutes later BBOB conceded a direct free kick just outside our penalty, the shot was deflected by a BBOB player into the back of the net, 0-2. Dan Buchanan took a free kick on our right and fired it at goal, their keeper caught the ball and cleared it up field, The Lectern attacked down their left and fired the ball over the crossbar. They then had a free kick on their left just outside our penalty area but fire the ball over the crossbar. Joe Howard conceded a corner on the Lectern left, they played it short and low and it was cleared away by Jac to Dan Buchanan he couldn’t control the ball and it went out for a out for a throw-in, from this this The Lectern played the ball towards our far post and out for a goal kick. BBOB were giving the ball away in midfield and conceding free kicks which was putting pressure on our defence, one such shot from a free kick was cleared off the line by Ben, picked up by our keeper and cleared up field. A free kick was awarded to The Lectern on their right, it was played short to their player, he crossed it into the middle of our area where it was cleared away by Adam for a corner on The Lectern right, they played the corner low into our area but it was cleared away. In the 75th minute Dan Buchanan took a free kick just 10 yards outside The Lectern penalty area, his kick on goal was cleared away by their defender. A minute later Joe Marshall hit their right-hand post only for the rebounding ball to be put out for a throw-in by The Lectern. The Lectern had another corner on their right, the ball was cleared away, again, by Ben but straight to a Lectern player who played the ball back in only for it to be cleared up field by Joe Marshall. Dan Buchannan and H linked up well on the left just inside The Lectern half, H ran towards goal and was brought down in the penalty area. Dan Buchanan stepped up for the penalty and hit the ball to the right of their keeper, 1-2 and BBOB were back in the game with just two minutes of normal time remaining. The Lectern gave away a throw-in on our right, Jac took the throw and played it towards Paul Barton, unfortunately the ball hit a bump and bobbled away from Paul towards a Lectern player who run through and put the ball in the back of the net to make it 1-3. Not the best of performances from the BBOB and not the result we were hoping for just before the cup game next week.
