BBOB started this game very strongly and appeared to have control of the game from the outset. After just five minutes Gary Watson combining well with Howard Lloyd placed a shot just wide of the post, three minutes later BBOB were awarded a penalty and Gary Watson put BBOB in the lead. BBOB applied further pressure onto the Millhouse defence but were unable to increase their lead.
In the 20th minute Millhouse equalised with a goal seemingly out of nowhere, a shot across goal somehow found its way into the BBOB goal leaving goalkeeper Ricci Corsano rooted to the spot. Almost immediately after this effort, Millhouse found themselves in front after BBOB's defence failed to clear a long ball allowing the Millhouse forward to lift the ball over Corsano.
BBOB responded well, in the 24th minute a ball down the right hand side found Gary Watson in space with the keeper to beat, Millhouse's keeper brought Watson down resulting in another penalty awarded to BBOB. Watson placed the penalty pass the keeper again to level it. 2-2.
Unfortunately BBOB were unable to build on this goal, as within the next 6 minutes Millhouse were back in front, taking the lead from more defensive errors made by BBOB, Corsano was caught off his line and the Millhouse centre forward was able to place the ball into an empty net. In the 39th minute Millhouse increased their lead with a quickly taken free kick from the edge of the area, BBOB were slow to react and were still arranging their wall when the free kick was taken and the ball went straight into the goal. Half-time 2-4.
BBOB were determined to start the second half well but fell even further behind after just three minutes of the restart, again BBOB were unable to completely clear an attack by Millhouse, the ball fell to their impressive right winger who fired his shot on the turn past Corsano. 2-5.
After this Millhouse appeared to sit back but BBOB were unable to breach their defence. BBOB had a few chances; substitute Adam Leaver coming the closest after missing from about a yard hitting his shot back across the goal mouth. Paul Barton found himself in unfamiliar territory (the opposition's box) and failed to convert a well struck cross by BBOB's man of the match and debutant Jason Anderton.
With ten minutes left on the clock Paul Barton found himself in Millhouse's box again and was brought down from behind by a Millhouse defender, leading, once again to a penalty being awarded. Gary Watson had been substituted for Paul Simmons so centre forward Howard Lloyd took the penalty. Unfortunately this was saved by the keeper and Adam Leaver failed to convert the follow up. Any comeback from BBOB was unlikely now!
Despite the outcome BBOB played well at times throughout this game, showing some positive attacking play and a good team spirit! Unfortunately as a team BBOB did not defend well at times and this led to the goals that were conceded, clearly something to work on! It is still early days and there is plenty of room for improvement with our increasing squad (four subs next week!).
