BBOB blew their chance of claiming top spot in a disappointing performance against bogey opponents The View. Gavyn Mewett continued in his role of centre forward alongside John Tibbs. Tom Marshall returned to play right midfield and, at last, regular goalkeeper Craig Watson returned, making his first appearance of the season. This meant left back Ryan Satterly could finally play on pitch!
It was a very unsettled performance in the first half by BBOB and The View were able to get the better of the chances with their dogged approach to the game. They did not allow BBOB to play their usual passing game and pushed the BBOB defence very deep on various occasions. Despite this, probably the best chance of the half fell to BBOB, John Tibbs hit the bar for the second game running.
BBOB improved their game in the second half and took control of most of the play. Chances were created; midfielder Howard Lloyd hit the bar after a fine passing move down the right involving Tom Marshall. Right back Paul Barton had a half chance from the edge of area after the ball was half cleared by The View defence. His first time volley was hit straight at the keeper!
With twelve minutes left on the clock substitute Michael McMahon managed to convert a far post corner from a tight angle to put BBOB in the lead! Sadly this lead only lasted six minutes, when a break from The View in midfield found an attacker in space on their right and his cross somehow wrong footed the BBOB defence and the ball found its way to an unmarked player who poked his effort into the top corner.
BBOB were determined to try and win this game after getting their noses in front! They pushed for the winning goal, Paul Barton latched onto a loose ball in his own half, glided past two opposing players into space towards the edge of the View's area, his accurate diagonal ball fell straight into the path of left winger Jamie Eade, but instead of taking a touch he opted to fire a volley into the side netting!!
Then came the horror moment! Midfielder Michael McMahon played a cross field ball to fellow substitute Scott Kemsley and his misplaced pass to central defender Adam Leaver found its way to an opposing forward and suddenly central defender Dan Edwards found himself outnumbered! Craig Watson managed to save the first effort made but he was only able to parry the ball. Adam Leaver was unable to clear the ball at full stretch and a View forward managed to place the ball across the goal and into the BBOB net! This was in the 94th minute and although BBOB continued to press for an equaliser, there was no way through, as The View hung on to record yet another unlikely victory!
