Lakeside were looking to secure their first league double of the season at the expense of Swindon Village. It was the visitors who went into this game under strength so both managers agreed to shorten the game by 10 minutes in each half. Lakeside started off the game very brightly and were passing the ball around the park with great composure. Although the Swindon Village goalkeeper made some excellent saves early on it was Lakeside who finally broke the dead lock in the 10th minute when Cameron Smith was on hand to finish after good work from Kurt Burrows. Straight from the restart Lakeside regained possession and Kurt scored from a great effort from outside the box. Luke Hitchman was the next player to get on the score sheet when a fine run by Sam James saw Luke on hand to pick his spot in the 15th minute. After good work by Luke in the 19th minute Cameron was on hand to smash home an unstoppable shot from 12 yards out. It was then the turn of Kurt with his lightning pace to go on and score again in the 23rd and 29th minute to register his third hat trick of the season. In the 34th minute Cameron was the next Lakeside player to complete his hat trick, which then allowed Lakeside to make three changes; Simon Brady coming on for Kurt, Craig Graham taking Cameron place and Mike Lloyd replacing Sam. With Luke running the show from the middle of the park he made a fine run into the area to claim his second goal of the game. With Swindon Village starting to run out of steam, Lakeside saw Luke on hand to become the third player of the day to score a hat trick. With Rob Jones coming out of goal, it was his turn become provider for centre half Josh Pugh, who was on hand to score a cracker in the 52nd minute to register his first goal for the club. Five minutes later it was the other centre half Harry Mansell who went on a darting run inside the box to register his third goal of the season. Going into the last minute of the game the unselfish Luke craved out an opportunity to see Rob get on the score sheet with a well-taken goal. Full credit must go to the Swindon Village players for all their hard work and effort and their commitment in what must have been a difficult day for them. Congratulation to Luke Hazard for making his first full debut for Lakeside.
