Lakeside were going into this rearranged fixture looking to continue the form which saw them topping the league table and beating league favourites Broadway.
Entering the game with high confidence, Lakeside spent the opening minutes trying to breakthrough a determined Leckhampton side, who were unwilling to give Lakeside time on the ball. The deadlock was finally broken on the 13th minute when Harry Mansell’s long free kick found Simon Brady in space, who proceeded to lob the keeper from outside the box to give Lakeside the lead. Lakeside, who were dominating the game were able to extend their lead on the 22nd minute when Will Norman whipped in a quality ball for Cameron Smith to head in. Will Norman then turned from provider to scorer when Simon Brady supplied the on-form Will Norman, who was able to register his first goal for the season and put Lakeside 3-0 ahead going into the half time break.
The second half saw Lakeside retake control of the game and continue to create a host of chances, however the Leckhampton keeper showed good composure preventing Lakeside from extending their lead. Lakeside continued to knock the ball round sweetly and were finally rewarded when Cameron picked out Simon Brady who scored his second goal of the game and took his goal tally to double figures for the season. A Budd Nicholson volley on the 50th minute saw Lakeside extend their lead to 5-0. Three minutes later, the ever-energetic Eliott Harris scored his first goal for the club when his solo run and calm finish put Lakeside further ahead. A Leckhampton free kick on the 57th provided the home side with a consolation goal, however Lakeside were looking for a positive reaction. With Freddie Wellfair, Liam Gould and Ben Simpson all entering the field, Lakeside were able to re-ignite their attacking dominance. Substitute goalkeeper Liam Gould was able to cause the Leckhampton defence plenty of problems, including supplying Cameron Smith, who was able to beat the keeper with a fantastic lob and complete the Lakeside scoring.
