After an impressive first half of the season, which saw Lakeside go on an impressive nine game winning run, it was Siddington who dealt the first blow to Lakeside’s title challenge.

Lakeside started the livelier of the teams with Simon Brady crossing for Luke Hitchman, who with only the keeper to beat, struggled to connect to Simon’s cross. Lakesides next chance also fell to Luke Hitchman, who saw his effort rebound of the post. Simon’s pace was continuing to threaten the Siddington back line, although it was Siddington who were able to strike the first blow. With three minutes of the first half remaining, a Siddington midfielder was able to continue his run unchallenged before hitting a fine strike into the top corner.

Siddington started the second half with the same momentum they ended the first. Six minutes into the second half Siddington were able to double their lead when the Siddington striker volleyed in from close range. Lakeside struggled to battle through the Siddington back line, although the introduction of debutant Jem saw Lakeside begin to grind out some chances. Siddington put themselves in a safe position on the 50th minute when they were able to add a third when Alex McPherson put into his own net. Substitutes Steve Brown and Alex Pike saw chances at the latter stages saved well by the Siddington keeper.

After a game to forget, Lakeside go into the next game with Southside looking to respond with the form that saw them deservedly lead at the top of the table.
