The Quays recent good form was brought to a shuddering stop after a torrid day at Coach Lane with the home side running out convincing winners.
Luke Ord replaced Ellis Burns in the Saints goal in the only change from last weeks win whilst there was a place in the squad for the first time for new signing Chris Tate, captain Callum Ancrum making his 150th appearance for the club.
Willington had beat Jesmond 6-2 earlier in the season and the home side were after revenge hitting the post after just 10 seconds when Andy Hall ran onto a through ball to smash his shot off the far post.
Ross Thirlaway had the Quays best effort in the opening stages firing over the bar from 12 yards after Alex Foreman had pulled the ball back into his path following great work down the right hand side.
Jesmond took the lead on 25 minutes, right winger Laurence Wylde was left unmarked to run onto a through ball to smash his shot through the legs of Ord in the Quay goal.
Ord then denied Jesmond a second as he pulled off a great save to keep out Halls shot with his feet before Wylde should of scored again as he somehow slotted the ball wide of the post when it looked easier to score.
The home side were well on top and they hit the post for a second time Louis Tiplady rising to head the ball past Ord but the post came to the Saints rescue.
With the game somehow still 1-0 the Quay almost levelled just before the interval, centre half Callum Ancrum looked set to fire the game level when the ball to him at a corner but the ball span just out of his reach before a Jesmond player got across to clear the danger to keep his side ahead at the break.
The second half carried on in the same pattern as the first with Jesmond wasting chance after chance first Hall missed another one on one with Ord producing another fine save before Tiplady took too many touches running in on goal allowing Ancrum to get back and clear the ball away.
The Saints made three substitutions on the hour mark with Dylan Adamson, Sean Conway coming on for Ryan Ferrier and Dan Coleman whilst there was a debut for Chris Tate who replaced Foreman
Jesmond's pressure finally paid off with 25 minutes to go, a cross coming in from the right falling into the path of substitute Daniel Brown who smashed the ball home left footed to double their lead.
That crucial second goal knocked the stuffing out of the Quay and the home side took advantage by grabbing a third, Hall ran through on goal once more and unselfishly squared the ball across goal for Brown to tap home his second of the afternoon.
A fourth goal was headed in by Jesmond centre half Stewart Wright who rose highest at a corner to send a header into the top corner, the goal coming minutes after his side had rattled the woodwork for a third time.
Hall finally got on the scoresheet as he waltzed through to round Ord and walk the ball home to make it 5-0 before impressive midfielder Andy Mogwo scored his sides sixth slotting the ball into the corner from 12 yards to complete the rout.
Noel Clynch came off the Saints bench to grab a consolation goal tapping home from close range for his 20th career Saints goal and they should of had a second but Adamson fired a late penalty over the bar.
A horrid afternoon for the Quay with their worst performance of the season coming in arguably the biggest game so far, hopefully the bad weather stays away so next weeks home game v Gateshead Redheugh is on and they can put this defeat firmly behind them.
