The quay booked a spot in the final of the George Dobbins cup after a fantastic victory over Premier Division high flyers New Fordley.
Well backed by around 80 fans who braved the scything wind and rain the Saints didn't get off to the greatest of starts.
Forward Alex Foremans attempted back pass held up in the wind allowing Fordley forward Liam Hudson to reach the ball ahead of Saints keeper Ellis Burns who brought down the striker in the area to hand the home side an early penalty.
Burns immediately redeemed himself however with a low save down to his right to keep out Hudson's poorly struck spot kick before reacting quickest to gather the rebound.
Burns's dramatic start to the game continued as he ran out to clear a through ball but he slipped handling the ball outside the area but the referee played on allowing Connor Andrews an open goal but somehow Saints defender Jay Brown brilliantly came from nowhere to slide and block a certain goal before the rebound was fired wide under pressure from a sliding Stephen King tackle.
After surviving those early scares the Saints went ahead on the half hour mark ,the ball fizzed across the fordley area from the left before arriving at the feet of top scorer Joe Connor who fired a shot away that deflected off a defenders boot before finding the net leaving Fordley keeper Liam Dodds no chance.
The lead was doubled just before half time with the outstanding Ryan McGorrigan the architect as his superb cruyff turn in the area allowed him space to get a shot away that took a couple of deflections before landing at the back post where fellow forward Alex Foreman was on hand to tap the ball home as another Saints cup shock looked on the cards.
A second half onslaught was expected from the home side but the first 20 minutes went by with no trouble for the Quay with Burns handling a few crosses and set pieces with great calmness in difficult conditions while captain Lee Crammond put in a fine challenge at the near post to stop a cross causing any danger.
Saints scorer Foreman was sin binned for dissent meaning the Quay were down to 10 men for 10 minutes and Fordley almost made the extra man count when substitute Hopwood found space before crashing an effort of the underside of the bar with the rebound cleared away to safety.
McGorrigan then created a great chance for Connor to seal the Saints spot in the final when he nutmegged the Fordley defender before sending a cross over that Connor controlled before smashing right footed bringing out a fantastic point blank save from Dodds to keep his side in the game.
Saints sub Dylan Adamson almost produced a moment of magic to put the icing on the cake when he slid on the last defender to pinch the ball before attempting an audacious lob from just inside the Fordley half but his effort went wide of the target.
The Saints defence held firm as Fordley threw everything at them with the final whistle seeing the Saints into a cup final for the first time in 8 years.
An incredible achievement to reach this final after beating the top 2 in the premier division on the way the Saints become only the third Second division side to get to the final in the 32 year history of the competition and they will be the first to win it if they can overcome another Premier side Cullercoats FC in the final on April 23rd
