After waiting two weeks to get back on the pitch after the poor showing at Jesmond the Quay responded with a much needed win coming back from a goal down to win with forward Dylan Adamsons two goals and two assists key to the turn around.
In freezing windy conditions it was the home side who were on top early on and they went ahead with a quality goal, young forward Aiden Rutledge dancing past two tackles before cleverly flicking the ball over the on rushing Quay keeper Ellis Burns to put his side infront.
Moments later Rutledge almost had a second but this time Burns produced a tremendous one handed tip over the bar to keep out the number nines powerful strike from 12 yards.
Saints striker Adamson went so close to levelling for the Saints when he smashed a shot agonisingly across the face of the goal after a great ball from Joe Connor and then from a Kenny Horsman free kick Adamson was inches away from getting his head to the ball as the Quay started to dominate.
A minute before half time they got a vital equalizer, A poorly taken quick free kick from Redheugh was cleared upfield to Adamson and the tall forward ran through a series of weak challenges to smash the ball past the helpless keeper to make it 1-1 at the break.
Dan Coleman replaced a flu stricken Horsman at the break with the Quay starting the second half like they had finished the first and buoyed by that goal just before half time they took the lead 5 minutes after the break.
A surging run from centre half Dale Johnson saw him play the ball out wide to Joe Connor who cut back onto his left to send over a cross that was deflected into the path of Adamson whose first touch left footed was sensational to put the ball on his right to crash the ball home from 6 yards for his 7th goal of an impressive season.
Adamson turned provider just minutes later and he held the ball up superbly out wide before laying the ball into the path of Quay top scorer Brandon Williams who curled the ball into the corner with aplomb from the edge of the box to make it 3-1.
Redheugh almost brought themselves back in the game when Rutledge found space in the area but Saints captain Callum Ancrum got across to stop the youngster getting his shot away while at the other end Stephen King nearly put the game beyond doubt with a first goal in 6 years but his effort went just over the bar after Johnsons free kick was parried into his path.
The Saints secured the points with 20 minutes to go with a deserved goal for winger Sean Conway, Conway had done brilliantly before the third goal to win the ball back for the Quay and after the outstanding Adamson played the ball to him out wide his left wing cross eluded everyone to fly over the keepers head and into the far corner to make it 4-1.
Managers Mark Henderson and Gareth Pugh came onto the field with sub keeper Luke Ord also getting a run out outfield with Redheugh beaten and the icing was added in the final minutes when Pugh played the ball through for Connor to run onto and coolly beat the last defender before rounding the keeper and slotting the ball into the empty net to make it 5.
A great win after being a goal down leaves the Quay in 6th spot in the league table at the half way stage with one more game before Christmas away to high flying Whitley Bay Sporting Club this Saturday a massive game in the Saints season.
