F C Plasma 0 St Michaels F C 5 Game played 5/5/13 St Michaels started their last game of the season knowing that the League title was out of their hands and dependent on AFC North Heath failing to win one of their 3 remaining games. This was obviously assuming 3 points were gained today against F C Plasma. On a superb pitch at Meridian Sports St Michaels continued their fine form and after 14 minutes a Danny Baptiste pass saw Adam Fahy crash in to open the scoring. 6 minutes later Danny Baptiste was unlucky to hit the post and despite continued pressure from St Michaels the score at Half Time was 0 – 1. St Michaels started the second half brightly and after just a minute DanTarrant hit the bar and followed up to hit the ball into the net. 11 minutes later Dan Tarrant hit a screamer from outside the box which certainly qualifies as a contender for “Goal of the Season”, giving the keeper no chance. On 66 minutes a good team move saw Tom Pexton bring out a good save from the Plasma keeper, but a minute later he was beaten again when Stuart Bird hit the post and Danny Baptiste followed up with his customary tap in to make the score 0 – 4. Three minutes later Ronnie Mewes replaced Stuart Bird and with 5 minutes remaining a shot from Ronnie Mewes was handled by a defender and a penalty was given. Dan Tarrant stepped up and smashed the ball into the net for his hat trick. There was still time for Ronnie Mewes to be put through only to see his left foot shot strike the post. The final score was 0 – 5 to St Michaels. An excellent finish to the second season which has seen another Cup Final appearance and at least runners up in the League with still a chance of the title. Special mentions this week go to Harry Smart for a solid season best performance at right back, Connor Reardon for another good performance at the heart of the defence and Arran Amer for a non stop performance in midfield. Man of the Match however this week goes to Dan Tarrant with a great Hat trick as well as being a non stop problem to Plasma throughout the game.
