St Michaels F C     5              Crayford One Bell      1      Game played on 1/4/12

St Michaels needed to keep their form against a team that were near the foot of the table and they were expected to have another goal feast. Once again however their shortcomings in front of goal was evident with numerous chances being missed and the almost obligatory needless goal being conceded at the other end.

Once again St Michaels started the game on the front foot and it only took 7 minutes when a shot from Danny Baptiste found its way to Adam Fahy who confidently put the ball away to make it 1-0. Five minutes later Adam Fahy was brought down in the box and Ronnie Mewes sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot to make it 2-0

It was all one way traffic and Connor Reardon was unlucky to see his header hit the post with the keeper well beaten. After 38 minutes a good run out of defence by Sam Meade led to Ronnies Mewes skilfully back flicking to Ben Baptiste who fired in from close range to make it 3-0 which was the score at half time.

The start of the 2nd half saw Mo Abarak replace Ronnie Mewes and James Mckerrell replace Connor Reardon. St Michaels continued on the attack but after 13 minutes on one of One Bell’s few attacks Sam Meade tripped one of their players to concede a needless penalty which was duly dispatched to make the score 3-1.

St Michaels continued to waste good opportunities and it took a fine goal from Mo Abarak after 74 minutes to make the score 4-1. Anthony Baptiste replaced Arran Amer on 75 minutes. With only 9 minutes to go James Mckerrell fed Adam Fahy who beat the One Bell defence on his own to rifle the ball into the net and make the final score 5-1.

A decent performance from St Michaels albeit with numerous missed chances and the usual one mistake at the back costing them a goal. Special mention this week goes to Aaron Hughes for his usual skilful display in midfield. Man of the Match however goes to two players who I cannot split. One is Ben Baptiste for another non stop performance with his tackles giving us that “bite” in midfield which a few of the One Bell players will testify to. The other is Adam Fahy who provided a constant threat down the left which was only halted by the illegal tactics of the One Bell defence. Despite this attention Adam scored 2 fine goals and was brought down for the penalty.
