St Michaels F C 1 Barnehurst 2 Game played on 20/10/13
Once again St Michaels started brightly in their attempt to avenge their Cup Final defeat at the hands of Barnehurst. After only 15 minutes a great ball down the left from Arran Amer saw Adam Fahy confidently slide the ball in to make it 1 – 0 to St Michaels. Barnehurst were on the back foot and in a spell of 15 minutes the over fussy referee booked 3 Barnehurst players and then added Billy Porter for good measure. Half Time came with the score remaining at 1 – 0.
St Michaels were unlucky after 2 minutes of the second half when a great shot from Adam Fahy brought out a fine save from the Barnehurst goalie. On 57 minutes Dan Regan replaced Danny Baptiste. The game ebbed and flowed until 9 minutes from time when a breakaway led to the equaliser. St Michaels players were now feeling the pressure and 5 minutes later Barnehurst got what proved to be the winner from close range.
What followed in the remaining 5 minutes was a disgrace with St Michaels losing their discipline and having Sam Meade, Adam Fahy and Harry Graham booked and then Sam Meade sent off . Whilst the referee's performance was nothing short of disgraceful there can be no excuses for St Michaels throwing away a winning situation.
On the whole a good performance ruined by a disastrous final 15 cminutes. Harry Graham’s handling was good throughout but the Man of the Match for his tireless efforts during the whole of the game goes to Arran Amer.
