MATCH REPORT for SUNDAY 16th SEPTEMBER 2012
Bexleyheath F C 0 St Michaels F C 7
The game kicked off 15 minutes late due to their being a clash of colours. St Michaels started quickly playing neat passing football and it only took 3 minutes before a corner from Danny Baptiste was put into the net by Stuart Bird, although on his own admition he knew very little about it. 6 minutes later it was 0 – 2 to St Michaels when a great ball out of defence from Sam Meade found Adam Fahy who put in a great cross for Stuart Bird to slide in his second of the game. A minute later Stuart was denied his hat trick by a great save from the Bexleyheath keeper.
On 21 minutes the Bexleyheath number 2 was booked after a sequence of fouls on Adam Fahy who was giving him a torrid time on the left wing. After 38 minute good play in the box by Stuart Bird led to Danny Baptiste firing in from just outside the box to make it 0 – 3. 2 minutes later Ronnie Mewes fed Stuart Bird who smashed the ball home for his second hat trick in two weeks to make the Half Time score 0 – 4.
The second half started as the first with St Michaels dominating play and Bexleyheath just resorting to long balls which were comfortably handled by Sam Meade and Connor Reardon in the heart of the St Michaels defence. With half an hour to go Jack Jolly replaced Ronnie Mewes who had aggravated an ankle injury. Two minutes later another good run by Adam Fahy led to a tap in by Danny Baptiste to make it 0 – 5. With 15 minutes remaining James Mckerrell replaced Lewis Butcher and Harry Smart replaced Connor Reardon. With 10 minutes left a Danny Baptiste assist led to Stuart Bird lashing in his 4th of the game.
The final say was left to Danny Baptiste who having been brought down in the box stepped up to take the penalty firing straight at the keeper but following up to put the ball in the net for his hat trick. This left the final score at 0 – 7 to St Michaels.
A great performance by St Michaels who recorded their biggest win since being formed last year. Many good performances but special mentions for Stuart Bird with his seventh goal in 2 games and Danny Baptiste for a fine hat trick. My Man of the Match however goes to Connor Reardon for a tireless and commanding performance in defence.
