10 Jan 2013 - (Motorola) The Orange jersey was flying high on the first match of the new year, scoring 5 goals with 3 in return, with Motorola R&D team.
The Saturns started the match with their usual attacking flavour, this time around with guest keeper Sabri manning in front the post.
Off the mark as early as the 10th minutes, after settling down with the thick glass and sand-mines of Motorola field, the Saturns front pair team work with a nice pass from Chong Seng to Wong, with the latter scored from close range. Motorola R&D keeper was seen complaining to their poor defendings. Saturn's Lau was adament to provide assist, but Lau must be thinking why the first assist was not from him...
Motorola scored the second goal of the game with some pressuring attacking play in the 15th minute. leveling the scoreline to 1-1 via a sharp shooting outside the box. Saturn's Sabri was beaten with no answer to Motorola's shooting.
The Angry (bird) Lau showed off his defense splitting skills, only turned up to be a show as his pass met Wong in the 24th minute and Wong's angle shot was barely parried away by Motorola keeper. SK was at the right on-site position to tap in the goal. It was supposed to be a dream assist by Lau but it turned out to be the assist was from Wong, according to the unarguable FIFA rules. Saturns will thank Lau for the show...
Saturns enlarged the lead and scored their 3rd goal via a solo efforts from Wong, after Wong managed to nutmeg Motorola midfielder and steal the ball, 5 minutes before the end of second half. The skillful Wong got passed 3 blocking attempts by Motorola players and calmly rounded Motorola players and keeper, placing the ball behind the net. 3-1 the scoreline stood when referee blew for the end of 1st half. no assist from Lau and Lau was seen kicking the grass....
Some tactical changes made by the RS in the second half seen employing a much relax approach. Jerome was sent to support the attack with Chong Seng disturbing motorola on the right side. Jerome charged Motorola players with his TREX-run that for awhile pressuring motorola. Good job Jerome!
The Orange jerseys was on the score sheet once more in the second half, enlarging the scoreline to 4-1 after a good work by Saturn midfield anchor man Andrew Kuan teaming up with KW and KB. In the 60th minute, a flux of good works on the left midfield combining KB and KW, passed the ball to Andrew on the midfield advancing play. Andrew releashed a thru-ball to Chong Seng racing from the right field and beat the motorola's off-site trap. Chong Seng's trademark powerful shot to the right corner of the post sent Motorola 1st choice keeper into grass eating act. This was a techtical play from RS that paid dividen, after a switch in tactical play seeing RS started the 2nd half in Jerome supporting the attack and switching the pacey Chong Seng to the right wing. Lau must have been cursing the manager's tactical play since Lau usually occupy the left/right wing position. "Could have been me (Lau) on the scoresheet..."
The scoreline did not stop at 1 for the Motorola team. The men in blue nicked passed RS's Edwin and scored from close range, after some undealed highball by RS defense in the 78th minute.
RS restored the lead to 3 goals, scoring their 5th goal of the game in the 80th minute. A timely thru-ball via SengBak switching from defense to midfield, into the feet of Lau at the right wing. Lau replacing Chong Seng determined to put up a good show, releash the usual defense splitting pass back to the middle and seen KW who, in a more midfield advancing attacking role, race to collect the ball from Lau. Sandwitched by 2 Motorola defenders, KW fall to the ground. The skillful KW with his ass still kissing the grass, scissors-flip the ball to SK. SK collected the ball and advanced and beat Motorola Keeper with ease. A wonderful assist by KW's ass kissing grass act. No assist to Lau. Lau may need to train himself into the grass kissing skills.....
A foul by TK of RS with a freekick awarded to Motorola in the 82nd minute just outside the box. Motorola scored the 3rd goal with a powerful freekick that Sabri could not handle and the ball flew thru his hand.
5-3 the final scoreline, Orange flags flying again and continued the fine form from last season.
MOM : Wong. 2 goals and 2 assists from Wong made it an easy decision and continue dominate statistics.
