As the 1st half got under way, Komboni launched the ball forward for Hooper to chase, Hooper controlled the ball and fired goal ward, but the ball was push into touch by the Colts keeper, corner Knights. The corner resulted in the Knights shot going wide and high of the goal. As the Colts took their goal-kick Doel intercepted and headed straight for goal; as Doel fired in a powerful shot it was deflected and went harmlessly passed the post. Later another corner for the Knights allowed Holloway the opportunity to shoot, but the bar came to the Colts rescue. As the Knights forced the play, pushing the Colts back into their own penalty area, Doel passed to Greenaway; he skipped past a defender then crossed the ball into the path of Holloway, who controlled the ball before glancing up and firing in a shot, scoring the Knights first goal of the match. From the re-start the Colts tried to force their way into the Knights penalty area but Courtnage, Choularton and Komboni kept them at bay; a long ball played forward by Komboni let Doel loose and he bore down on the Colts goal but his effort went just wide of the post. Another attack by the Colts brought Komboni into action again but this time he fouled the Colts attacker. The Colts sent the ball from the free-kick straight into the Knights danger area but Tadd, the Knights keeper grabbed the ball with both hands removing the threat. Tadd kicked the ball up-field and Hooper chased, reaching the ball and striking towards to Colts goal; this brought a great save out of the Colts keeper but he was unable to keep hold of the ball and Courtnage was the first to react, sending the ball into the Colts net, goal Knights. This goal appear to inspire the Knights and attack followed attack, with Greenaway hitting the bar, Borachan firing wide and shoots from Powell, Doel and Hooper all being saved by the Colts in-form keeper. As the Knights mounted another attack down the left wing with Holloway, Borachan and Doel made their way into the Colts penalty area taking defenders with them. Holloway had made his way into the penalty area and as everyone was looking for a cross, Holloway went for goal scoring the Knights 3rd goal of the match. The Knights attacked again forcing the Colts keeper to make save after save, so the Knights had to resort to shooting long and high, but the Colts Keeper was up to this challenge, saving again from Greenaway, Holloway, Powell and Borachan. As the whistle blew for half-time, the score line would have been more but for the Colts keeper, who must have saved at least 5 clear goal scoring opportunities by the Knights.
As the ref started the 2nd half, the Colts launched their first major attack, forcing the Knights onto the back-foot but Choularton, dealt well with this Colts attack. From a Tadd drop-kick Powell found himself in some space and after going around a Colts defender fired in a shot but again this was saved by the Colts keeper. As the half progressed the Colts were awarded a throw-in deep in the Knights half, quickly taken but their effort went wide of the mark. Goal-kick taken, Borachan and Powell passed the ball between themselves in a triangular move, helping them advance down the pitch, but as the cross came in by Borachan, Doel just could not make up enough ground to collect. The Knights were attacking again but the Colts defence cleared the ball forward with a long kick, which sailed over the Knights defence, allowing a Colts striker to be on his own. He took control of the ball and fired it into the back of the net, 3-1 Knights. The Knights looked determined to reclaim their 3 goal lead after that, and Holloway powered down the wing before crossing the ball into the danger area but the pace on the ball was just too much for Powell or Borachan to reach. From then on the Knights launched more attacks, with shoots from Borachan, Doel, Powell, Greenaway and Hooper going wide or being saved. The Knights were camped in the Colts half of the pitch looking for another goal when the Colts slipped the ball up-field, the Colts striker let fly but Tadd collected safely. As the match was drawing to a close the Knights forced their way forward again however, the shot by Borachan went wide. As the Colts took the goal-kick Holloway collected and headed goal-ward, as the angle opened for him he took aim and scored the Knights 4th and his 3rd of the match. With only moments remaining the Colts again force their way forward but the referee blow for full-time stopping them in their tracks; a good game for the Knights but leaving their manager with a difficult decision to make, who will get Man of the Match. After careful consideration Komboni was awarded the trophy due to his dedication in his defensive role from the moment the referee’s whistle started the match until the final whistle, Komboni never stopped running.
