Away league match played on 15 February 2009.
Kicked off at 9:30 AM

The match started, with the Knights attacking, but Doel fired just wide; the Tornadoes quickly re-grouped, from a long goal-kick mounted an attack on the Knights goal.  The Knights defence of Choularton, Courtnage and Komboni held firm and quickly stopped this danger.  Another attack was launch by the Knights which saw Choularton and Komboni combine, allowing Komboni a shot on goal which was well saved by the Tornadoes keeper.  Holloway and Powell were working well together, feeding the ball up-field, forcing the Tornadoes to concede a throw-in.  Taken by Komboni, a Tornadoes defender blocked it, but the ball returned to the feet of Komboni, without hesitation he fired the ball goal-ward; striking the back of the net and opening the scoring for the Knights.  From the re-start, the Knights fought hard to regain possession of the ball, Courtnage and Komboni feed the ball forward for Holloway, but his effort went over the bar. As the Tornadoes took their goal-kick, Holloway intercepted, and bore down towards the goal, but his shot brought off another good save by the Tornadoes keeper.   A little later the Knights were awarded a corner, taken by Holloway, there was confusion in the area and Courtnage’s pounced but his effort was deflected for another corner.  The Tornadoes then mounted a quick attack, which resulted in their striker hitting the side nettings; again the Tornadoes rushed the Knights goal but Tadd, the Knights keeper managed to push the ball away.  As the half was drawing to a close the Knights forced their way forward, and the Tornadoes were forced into conceding another corner.  Holloway took, sending the ball high into the danger zone where Choularton drove in, battling for the ball and winning.  Choularton charged into the penalty area rounded a defender before firing home the Knights 2nd goal, just as the half time whistle blew.

The 2nd half continued where the 1st had finished, with the Knights attacking; Blackbourn slipped the ball to Holloway, he and Komboni linked together, passing the ball past the Tornadoes defence but Holloway’s final shot was again well saved.  Powell and Hooper then started playing, moving the ball up-field with Choularton in support; as Hooper neared the goal he slotted the ball to Choularton, his effort however, went wide.  Courtnage then came bounding down the wing, passing players on route to goal; he fired goal-ward, again the Tornadoes keeper saved a certain goal, but he was unable to hold onto the ball; Doel reacted first, seizing the opportunity and scoring the Knights 3rd goal.  The Tornadoes never gave up, and using good passing created a goal scoring opportunity, but the Knights defence shut the door, ending their advance but at a cost of a free-kick.  The free-kick was taken and Komboni rose to head clear but the pace of the ball was just too much, he only managed to deflect it past Tadd and into his own net.  This just seemed to spur the Knights into attack; within moments they were awarded a corner.  Holloway took, sending the ball into the area; the Tornadoes keeper tried to punch the ball clear but it hit one of his own defenders, and ended up in the net, giving the Knights a 4-1 lead with only a few minutes remaining.  As the minutes ticked away the Knights mounted attack after attack, with shots by Hooper, Choularton and Blackbourn being saved; Holloway and Powell’s efforts went over the bar.  As the referee checked his watch the Knights were awarded a throw-in, Komboni took, Hooper collected; Hooper took the ball into the Tornadoes area and fired home the Knights 5th of the match, just as the full time whistle blew.  The manager then had to decide who should be man of the match, and after considering how the team had played, he awarded the trophy to Hopper, due to his high work rate, good team spirit and his never say die attitude.
